I would have the ranger proficiency bonus to be added to ALL saves. I would let the companions attack order to be given as a bonus action. I think these two things would make the companion both more durable and give the ranger better ability in combat that rivals other marital classes.

It's still silly. I own (or have owned) a physical copy of almost every pdf book I have. I always like to get a pdf of any RPG I buy just so I access it at work or on my tablet whenever I want.

I can point out that Fantasy Flight is doing well with Star Wars. Catalyst is doing ok with Shadowrun even though they flubbed their editing. If they were losing money their respective companies would have shut down the RPGs.

I'd like to point out that the Beastmaster companion does not get the maximum hit points that you can roll. They get the average hit points listed and the undamaged or "maximum" of those hp are compared to the Rangers level.

That's not true. Some monsters get their Proficiency bonus to a few saves. Other monsters only get stat bonus. It's one of those things that need to be clarified and probably one of those changes that didn't get totally vetted out.

It doesn't. It only adds to any saves the animal companion already is proficient in. And there are no animal companions that are proficient in saves.
