    How noticable is a Paladin using "Detect Evil"

    Detect Evil should be pretty obvious when interacting or against someone who should have experience with alignment detecting magics. It does take 18 seconds, so it's a major social faux pass, but if the Paladin just wants to stand against the wall and scan everybody who goes by, that's okay.

    I'd go with Str. Wisdom gets you +1 to save DCs, and a bonus spell, however you can put your next point into Wisdom and not lose much of the benefit.     Actually this isn't so tough. You only kill something if you reduce it to -10 or below, so as long as you don't go around CDGing your enemies you're probably okay. Just hit them with a Cure Minor Wounds and be on your way, maybe filling their pockets with inforative phamlets.

    You specific situation looks okay, the character concept still has a lot of room in it and the last one bit the dust before you could explore it, so you'd like another shot. There is a problem if four campaigns from now you're still playing a water mage.
