stealth game (mark lewis stay out)

You may encounter guards that you can't just kill along the way, so be able to use Sleep, Hold Person, the various Image spells, the various Mist spells, and Charms or Suggestion to get rid of baddies. For maximum stealth, you should get silent or stilled version of these. Some other useful...

    Weird things that attract players

Alchemist Fire and Acid Flasks are big on my lists. Players will literally ignore +5 Greatswords of Vorpal Nifty Keeness and Archwizard's Staff of Continent Destruction, either in use or in treasure, for alchemists fire and acid. I don't understand it, because in most case alchemist's weapons...

    Help with Cthulhu?

First off, read HP Lovecraft's stories. I recommend The Shadow over Innsmouth, The Shadow out of Time, At the Mountains of Madness, The Call of Cthulhu, The Dunwich Horror and there are some others that you may like. Just about all his works are available here...

Sci-Fi books that got you to go 'wow'

Peter F. Hamilton. For near future he has the Mindstar series, Mindstar Rising, A Quantum Murder, and the Nano Flower. Basically Global Warming has caused Earth's ecosystem and economy to collapse, and multi-billionaire tycoons are putting it back together in their image, and caught in the...

Discworld d20 - Anybody want to chip in?

Re: My contribution I like this a lot! And now for my take on the Stronginthearm Piecemaker, because as we all know, it's not the levels that make the hero, it's the weapon's they're carrying. Exotic, Huge, Ranged Piecemaker, 3d6, 19-20/3x crit, 100' range. It takes 6 rounds to reload the...

Discworld d20 - Anybody want to chip in?

This sounds really cool, I personally would like to see stats for Vimes and the Night's Watch, but then I feel that Ankh-Morpork is the definitive urban setting, as "all other cities are but reflections and shadows" or something like that. But personally I think that this is pretty easy if you...

"A Song of Ice and Fire" in May issue of Dragon...

As a big fan of aSoIaF, I think that any sort of d20 treatment is good, as GRRM has stated that while be plays RPGs, he doesn't much like D&D. As for spellcasters, I would keep the Ranger(Warg) and Assassin(Faceless Man) as they are, but require PC to really play the class to get all the...

    Grappling feats?

Armor spikes are good for traditional fighter who don't want to get grappled. Otherwise boost your unarmed damage up as far as it can go. There's a whole series of feats in OA related to grappling if you have or are interested in that book.

    Battle Mat

I just use the regular pieces of paper, it means I don't have to keep redrawing everything, and it fits in a standard binder when folded. Of course I can only play for 30-45 minutes once a week, and leaving the markers on the mat can damage them.

First Adventure: Help Me Puzzle It Together [Long]

Tone down detect evil, make it only detect absolute baddies, creature that were born evil and can never be redeemed, such as demons, or possibly orcs. An unfriendly taxe collector wouldn't be evil.

    Scaring players... tips needed!

Never state facts, always use words like "looks" and "appears" in your descriptions. Instead of "The hallway is clear." use "The hallyway appears clear." While this will drive them crazy, it will also scare them a lot. Have them make constant listen or spot checks, which will allow them to...

    Suggestions for my group....

I would recommend splitting, either 2 of 6 or 3 of 4, 12 people is just too many to run effectively, but if you really must. People should have their action ready early. Get a tray or container to hold the dice rolls so they don't take forever. If they want to do anything special, have the book...

Movies of Games: Why are they always so bad?

Wait, your forgetting what may be one of the most sucktackular movies of all time, based on a game. Wing Commander. I saw it, but I don't remember anything except that there were bad English accents and something about 'Pilgrims'. I am still thankful to this day that that's all I remember...
