Tell me about your Star Wars campaigns

Fair enough, but just bringing up the point that the dark side lacking teeth as it were isn't a new concept. Myself, I've adopted the notion that if the PC proves they haven't truly "atoned" for their acts by not changing their ways, then they get all the previosu DSPs back in addition to the...

Tell me about your Star Wars campaigns

Well, unless you were a Force-user in the previous d20 versions, they weren't anything to be feared then either, and you had to really go to extremes to be worried about them even if you were a Force-user (such as going totally dark side and getting weaker Force Points at the higher levels...

    Favorite Cyberpunk Game/System

Cyberpunk 2020. Aus_Snow is right in that there are some areas that need a bit of work, but for a purely "cyberpunk" feel, nothing else does it better, although some of the later tech books started getting a little out of hand with the gizmos they included (full-body 'borgs being the most...

    Halloween Games?

Funnily enough, our D&D GM got us together to continue that exact module (we're doing the extended campaign version). A couple of frights and surprise, but now we're ready to go have a long chat with Mr. von Zarovich :)

    Star Wars Saga

That was supposed to be Force Unleashed era guide, but that got pushed back until March because the game itself got pushed back (blasted multimedia tie-in events). Not much else has been officially announced in terms of sourcebooks, although as Owen has stated Amazon has several listings for...

    Star Wars Saga

I guess it can just be chalked up to different styles of play, but nobody in my group misses the "5 foot step," largely because there's rarely a reason to take full-round combat actions anymore; Double/Triple Attack is the only one that comes immediately to mind, and they're only high enough...

    OotS #499

Okay, so if this is #499, then I don't think Roy is making is return to the living in #500. Still, a good strip with an excellent explanation for why so much time had passed. Three weeks playing blocks, heh :) Knight from the NOT HELPING? Don't think I've heard of that particular region...

    Conan 2nd Edition

Well, my reluctance is also based on only having so much money and the only folks in my area that I know that are interested in fantasy RPGs are primarily interested in D&D, not "some 3rd party fluffjob" to quote one of the guys I game with. I did by the 1st edition book, and there was some...

Summons-focused caster on an underwater adventure? Which Grampa Greenhilt just happen to reference ;)

    Favorite 3.5 book

Tome of Battle: Book of 9 Swords, if for no other reason than it made playing fighter-types fun again. Unearthed Arcana is a very close second however.

    Conan 2nd Edition

Question on the 2nd edition Conan RPG? How good of a job did they do proofreading? Because the 1st edition version was a trainwreck in that regard. I'm moderately interested in the Conan RPG, but with 4e coming around the bend along with more SWSE stuff, not sure I want to invest money in a...

    OotS 498 is up

Hence the "joking" part of the exchange between my friend and I. Of course, since (at least according to the grognards in my area) Warblade pretty much is the 4e Fighter prototype, then the whole thing might be moot anyways.

    OotS 498 is up

Hey, Roy did the best he could with what he had to work with. I think he made a pretty good showing of himself considering he was most likely facing an Epic CR threat. He's a melee-centric guy with the only real means of hurting the Big Bad, who was flying, meaning tactically Roy would have...

There's some neat ideas in there. Thanks for posting the link :)

OotS #497 is up/The Grand Fighter [Merge Powers Activate!]

I would say if anything this whole experience (if he remembers it) would give Roy even more of an impetus to complete his quest. He wouldn't just be doing it to prove his father wrong. He'd be doing it to make his grandpa (whom he idolizes) proud. Besides, Roy's the glue that holds the rest...

    Smallville-Season 7-Cure. 10/2007

Well compared to the days of "Lois & Clark," he does look older. I guess it would depend on your wife's perception of "looking old." Usually, for someone in their teens or early 20's, 40 and up is "looking old."

    Star Wars Saga

Move Object. Nowheres does it say that you can't use MO on an attended/held object, although you'd have to beat the target's Will Defense. Plus if you so desire you can dash the formerly held object against a wall, more than likely destroying it if not severely damaging it. Worked pretty well...

    Smallville-Season 7-Cure. 10/2007

Heck of a lot better than last week's. Seemed to be a bit more of a foundation episode. But it was fun watching Dean Cain play the bad guy. Can't argue with Hand of Evil either, especially since Allison seemed to be back on the acting track. Curious to see how the Kara/Manhunter angle is...

    Star Wars Saga

Great against non-heroics or low-level heroics, but after a certain point you're just not doing enough stun damage to overcome their damage threshold, and instead are just trying to get them down to zero as fast as possible.
