D&D 5E (2014) WotC: Why Dark Sun Hasn't Been Revived

Considering Ravenloft and Spelljammer, I wasn't holding my breath for Dark Sun anyway. And I'm not sure how interesting a new Planescape is going to be.

It is time to forgive WOTC and get back onboard.

When Keith Baker, the original creator of Eberron, ponders about leaving the setting because he's not happy with the terms of DMGuild, I have little need for DMGuild, either.

It is time to forgive WOTC and get back onboard.

If they use those IPs for stuff like VRGtRL or especially the Spelljammer set, I don't need Hasbro or WotC.

Ginny Di interviews WotC's Kyle Brink

WotC's clumsiness was what maximized damage. They tried to shock and awe the publishers over the holidays and weren't prepared for the backlash they got. You can't blame their PR department botching their "apology" on some leaker. They continued to use highly ambiguous language while the...

Kyle Brink Interviewed by Teos Abadia (Alphastream) on OGL, WotC, & D&D

Their biggest strength is world building. I highly recommend the Midgard Worldbook, Southlands Worldbook and the Book of Ebon Tides. Their modules and mechanics are okay, but writing settings is where they really shine. Their mechanics for PF1 felt more interesting to me than their 5e stuff, but...

List of potential post-OGL 5E replacement RPGs

In my opinion 3rd edition perfected the dragon designs, so I agree. D&D 5 did well in bringing those designs back.

D&D 5E (2014) Amazon US book sales rank.

Rise of Tiamat and Hoard of the Dragon Queen were far thinner than the later books, only 192 pages together (similar to Spelljammer but far thicker paper). The Waterdeep books have over 540 pages combined, far more than any official D&D book.

Fateforge uses the OGL (and continues to do so in their current Kickstarter), Black Flag will use ORC.

List of potential post-OGL 5E replacement RPGs

I haven't really checked them, I'm currently rather occupied with digesting PF2. I got the monster book from KS and it's pretty. But the books are PWYW, so you can check it yourself. It's close to the SRD, with subclasses, etc added. It also already referred to races as species.

Kyle Brink (D&D Exec Producer) On OGL Controversy & One D&D (Summary)

If Meta would want to create a D&D metaverse, they won't need the SRD for that. The cost of a total rewrite would be neglectable compared to the technical costs. They could even claim D&D compatibility.

Kyle Brink (D&D Exec Producer) On OGL Controversy & One D&D (Summary)

They removed the royalties from OGL 1.2 while retaining the hostility against VTTs. So arguing the main reasons behind 1.1 were Disney and Meta seems a bit hard to believe. But I guess that goes for the whole Disney stuff. @mamba Looking at their "apology", they should have stayed silent a few...

    D&D 5E (2024) So Will 'OneD&D' (6E) Actually Be Backwards Compatible?

I'd say Paizo was pretty big even back than. But other than them, I'd say the only relevant one was Goodman Games. Most of the significant 3PPs of 3rd edition had moved on, including White Wolf, AEG, Fantasy Flight Games, Green Ronin, Privateer Press, Mongoose. Most of those had developed or...
