    The Playtest Fighter

Thanks for replying Neonchameleon :) We get very specific here and that was not my intention. I never liked the in combat bluff mechanic in 4E (bluff, is that a feint? Standard action do do a feint? Once per encounter? Throwing sand as bluff? Never hit my table, to be honest) but this is not...

    The Playtest Fighter

I believe that this is very difficult to do. How can I throw something at the orc's chieftain eyes and get any advantage out of this action, without badly breaking the powers' structure the games has and make the Rogue with Sand in the Eyes looking madly at me and the DM? Just thinking.

Well try to think about the feature the fighter get at level 2 (it does not say additional attack, it refers to an additional action), combine with what we said above, and you get a quite strong, cinematic and (more important) limited by imagination only class feature nobody else can do :)

    The Playtest Fighter

Again it's only my opinion but it's under the Improvise action in the How To Play document.

    Advantages / Disadvantages

Small question, in the event I have more than two conditions/circumstances/spells/features granting advantage and disadvantage, am I correct saying that is the DM ruling if the overall result is advantage, disadvantage or neutral? Thanks guys!

    The Playtest Fighter

First, let me say I completely agree with your status, my motto is "Don't do today what can be postponed till tomorrow" ;) What I mean here, and I believe you got it, is that as a DM and a PC I always felt the power's structure of 4E (while quite perfect on paper) as a limitation. I know it...

    The Playtest Fighter

Let me quote the best 5E fighter's post I read so far (in particular the first paragraph), from the wizards forum: "People. If you play a Fighter and you never do anything but make attack rolls, that is your fault. Fourth edition has trained players to look at their character sheet to see what...

No problem, I just wanted to make sure I was understanding it correctly.

D&D 5E (2014) EN World Interview With Mike Mearls, Lead Designer of D&D Next

    1. Basic D&D = 9 (nostalgia may be worth a point or even two here) 2. 1E = 7 2. 2E = 8 3. 3E = 6 4. 4E = 5 5. 5E = ? but the goals are just perfect to me.

D&D 5E (2014) EN World Interview With Mike Mearls, Lead Designer of D&D Next

It refers to a scale going from 1 to 5, right? Or shall we assume that no edition was ever worth a solid 8? B-)

Pace of level advancement in 4th edition D&D

To the person who is having problems with the "in game" time it is taking to level, remember that each adventure doesn't have to carry directly on from the previous one - there could be weeks or months between adventures. Hi, I know this and after TSL I've made the next adventure begin...

    D&D 4E 4e - be a king

Hi thanks for your support, is more than welcome! regarding the issues Badwe underlined, my first considerations (very briefly, I need to go home :)) 1 - I think about multiple skill challanges, one very two three game play months. Each challenge (roll roll..) belongs to a category and...

    D&D 4E 4e - be a king

I thought about it, but I guess that very special events (with a clear path and destination) should occur only in case of very bad or very good Skill Challenge outcomes. My idea is that if a 18th level NPC heard about a big brigands band within his kingdom, he would hire mercenaries/send...

    D&D 4E 4e - be a king

Hi All, I'm trying to think about a Skill Challenge for ruling and administrating a territory. Anyone remember of the Companion (green Box) D&D 1E rules? I'm thinking about something similar to be ruled with the mechanism of Skill Challenges. Let's say an event occur once every 1/2/3...

Pace of level advancement in 4th edition D&D

Hi, I find the pace of advancement a little too fast. Let me explain briefly. It is not as matter of PCs gaining too much power in short time but a matter of story development. Let's take the first two published adventures, KOTS and TL. PCs may take 1 week (in game's time) to explore the...
