Gee Brain, I think they're finally catching on...

dont know how useful 'player-oriented' books would be. The great thjing abou the books you mention (and they look great), is that it takes some of the load off GM's who, frankly, often have a helluva lot of work to do. players? possibly, but what assistance would you give them? the advice has...

Irritating Munchkin tricks your Players try to argue.

err perhaps true, but it still doesnt help make your arguement. Ironically i mostly agree with your first part of your argument - if you are using square-based combat, then everything is done is squares - so burning hands covers up to two squares away. Period. If you are doing all your combat in...

Put yourself in a bucket, for great justice!

Specialist/Other (Megalomaniac). I strive to shore up my fragile ego by opressing the weak, normally while claiming to be LG/LN. :D i suppose that means I should whine about how your poll doesnt have enough categories and its not fair that your just trying to pigeonhole us etc etc etc. Bah.

    To anyone who uses miniatures....

 this (quite valid) view popped up when the wordworks guy announced dungeonworks on this board - in fact he said that if he had the cash he would buy DF stuff as well.... ... and then the thread degerated into an argument over whether the cost of printing out these models on...

Would you hold it against a book if...

-edited out hongzinging. Seriously though - I have no problem with anime in a book. Hell, I'll put up with any art, as long as its drawn properly. Some of the drek ive got in some of my books. bleagh. (oh, and if the Unfeasibly Large Breasts syndrome can be kept down a bit, that would be good...

[OT] Calling all English-speaking gaming groups...

I'd be keen as well - sounds like it'd be fun. Thank gawd you dont mind colourful language - my shadowrun groups language is pretty, well, not. Actually I believe a friend of mine did a psych paper on the 'hierarchies' of gaming groups - it was hilarious reading. ive got one of those...

    Tiny Adventures

the SRD and the books have info in this under environment. Essentially, strong winds or higher knock them down, IIRC - also wind buffetting can force concentration checks if spellcasting.

Why is Min/Maxing a bad thing?

generally i find that minmaxing is only really offensive if: (a) the player is trying to get rules added/changed to fully max out the character. (b) the player is minmaxing to be better than the other players.

So I was more or less kicked out of my D&D group

Quite true. Corrected. It is quite interesting that these sort of discussions often end up with everyone talking past each other. You are quite correct about the rudeness of not advising the GM, and the gentleman who had the view of 'its just a game' was also quite correct. In fact, pretty much...

So I was more or less kicked out of my D&D group

Good catch tburdett. I was under the impression that DC called the previous night. However its not particularly relevant. As a GM, I would find being given that little notice quite rude as well. But I'm not DC's GM, and neither are you, so the 'social contract' (bleagh) that we operate in our...

    Do You Like Gnolls?

I've always had a soft spot for Gnolls. For some reason, I often have them as bands of mercenaries - not sure why. Some time ago in a Rolemaster game I had the party workign a lot with a gnoll mercenary company "Baz's Bugbear Bashers" (OK, so I was young). More seriously though, I've seen...

[Subraces] Too much of a good thing?

im pretty much of the belief that as a GM you should pick and choose the subraces that are most appropriate for your game and flick the rest. Otherwise, yes, it can get a little silly. The wild/gold is a good example. YMM(apd)V

So I was more or less kicked out of my D&D group

Ok I'll bite again. This is pretty close to my view. As far as I can tell, most reasonable people adapt their behaviour to the people around them. Pielorinho, SHARK, et. al, your points are valid. If I was a player in your game (somewhat geographically difficult), knowing that a lot of work was...
