    would this be evil?

OK, yes, its a valid point that because the GM ruled that the crit on a subdue killed her, he twisted their intent, and things happened which they didnt want to happen. Hey, how often does that happen? WHile, yes it could be argued that the GM made a bit of a b#stard call, the players could...

A Question for those with long-running Birthright campaigns

Yeah, just the basic province/holding system gave a mechanism for provide abstract rules for the power struggles that go on in the background, while your character is wandering up into the hills to clear out some bandits/hunt down a lycanthope/transport a relic for some rebels/search for an...

[BoVD] So... did the sky fall?

mmm. its a bit like dungeon/poly95. the super-secret sealed section actually had a really cool adventure, but some of the stuff+presentation was.... ewwwww....... (and I normally run a pretty dark type of game) i would add my 2c, but we dont have them anymore.

    would this be evil?

I think that when the GM ruled that the 20 killed the hostage, what he was trying to say was: "Listen up, you primitive screwheads!!!" :D

    would this be evil?

agreeing with Tsyr again? grumble. Yup, yup. You could say that killing the girl was a mistake (an accident would be pushing it). They didn't intend to kill her according to the original poster. But it doesn't matter. In every way shape and form, they are responsible for what happened to her...

    would this be evil?

Its a valid point - and it covers a lot of what went on in the (admittedly brief) description in the first post of this thread. The thief goes and commits random burglary, but the part sticks by her, because shes a PC. Mmmmm.. of course a more rational approach might be, "She's where? In Jail...

    would this be evil?

eeeeeevil.... As always, topics like this get around to the "the ends do not justify the means" vs "the ends don't justify the means, but what if...." argument. which is, unfortunately is a bit of a circular argument... In any case, here's my 2 cp: Disregarding whether the rogues actions in...

A Question for those with long-running Birthright campaigns

In some ways yes. Because BR lent itself to a 'living world' feel, it was easy for the players to see that the adventures they were sucked into were often the results of high level political maneuvering, the aims of which they were rarely aware of - such as when the players stumbled into a...

A Question for those with long-running Birthright campaigns

My group had a couple of bashes at BR, one set over in Rheulgard(sp?), where we split the kingdom up (a mni-civil war) and divvied it up amongst the players. We ended up interacting more with the Goblins and Elves than with anyone else until late in the game, where we were dealing with some of...

    One FRPG besides D&D

Rolemaster. The Way and the Light. :D (and disturbingly similar to 3e these days in some ways) otherwise, Earthdawn/WHFRP/ArsM:eek:  ica (de-grogged)

I don't have the search option... can someone direct me to Harm house rules?

Outstanding!! MAD in D&D....:D Who says deterrence doesnt work... Seriously though, Crothian covered off the main options - the option allowing a Fort save seemed to be popular, and seems reasonable.

Holy Schmolly do my players cheat something fierce...

One of my (formerly) companion players pulled this stunt- "ok, I draw the howlers away from from the doomed party members, and then because I can move faster than them (dont ask) and I have trackless step, I can lure them off, and then leave no track" Good plan. Except when he admitted the...

    Sample maps...

gotta agree - Fractal terrains is top stuff. I found it extremely useful for inspiration - i was just wandering through, creating some worlds, when i accidentally created a world with a few small seas, with some coastal plains, surrounded by enormous mountain ranges over the rest of the globe...

    [Map] Here be Orcs!

and the tiles used for this.... (just the shallowsea tile from Darrakeths tileset, edited and turned into an overlay tile. A little more tricky than coastal tiles, as ensuring they line up together is a little more important. Currently working on making them not look silly over...
