    4E playtesting or lack thereof

Hi, I don't think the mods look too kindly on a person creating a new thread based off their previously locked one.....

    I love AD&D

Yep, I've got the first one (with the DEX score). I mean they are both RC-compatible (enough), but it's the little differences that make you go Hmmmm....

    Return of the Edition War

Topic bans, ala RPG.net. "Hi (Poster X), we understand you're a big fan of (subject Y), but we've noticed you've been posting some inflammatory stuff about (subject Z). For the next (day/week/month), please do not post about (subject Z). Thanks!" Another aspect is that the most vitrilic...

    4E, as an anti-4E guy ...

Interestingly enough, the module Keep on the Borderlands has a list of TSR products on the back cover including "Dungeon Geomorphs". Anyone got any idea what these are? Dungeon Tiles for Basic D&D? (as an aside, these conversations go much more amusingly at RPG.net - Old Geezer would have...

If you can find a group that plays a pre-3.0 version of D&D or Retroclone would you:

I'm playing in (and running) several 4e campaigns. Recently, to fill a slot left by a GM who is away for a couple of months, I pitched a D&D Rules Cyclopedia game at the group (I'd seen the book on ebay, and have been meaning to pick it up for a while). Response was positive, and we had a...

4E Monster Manual II: will you?

Maybe. I don't crack open the MM1 very often, as I tend to use the encounter builder and compendium for my monster needs.

    It's hard to avoid arguing

A side effect of this is that I have quite a bit of respect for those posters who put their hand up and say "yep, I was wrong".

The Swordlands - updated 28th May; The Hanged Man

The Garden In the dim light, the party could see a large ruined courtyard, shrouded in webs, with some sort of metal netting above. Cautiously entering the courtyard, the true horror of this place became apparent... Like some horrific drow contemprary art piece, the webs were filled with...

The Swordlands - updated 28th May; The Hanged Man

Into the Dark With a loud klunk, the vessel came to a halt on the platform. The heroes looked at each other uncertainly, as beyond that cast by the burners only the most occasional light broke up the overpowering gloom surrounding them. Once again, their 'Captain' appeared on deck, this time...

    The Sandbox And The Grind

This seems to translate as "the solution to my 'problem' is to up the damage. If you don't agree with me, you're wrong. Only those who agree with me should post."

The Swordlands - updated 28th May; The Hanged Man

Lighten the Load As the vessel continued on into the darkness, the attention of the heroes was drawn to a sputtering sound coming from one of the burners overhead. The flames from that burner started to dim, and the vessel slowly began to assume a significant list. "Well that's not good"...

The Swordlands - updated 28th May; The Hanged Man

I'll be posting the session summary shortly - however it can be summarised by: (1) Amazing, evocative descriptions of the surroundings by the GM. (2) Life as a melee striker in a session without defenders sucks donkey genitalia. As described to Matt: missing two players return to character...

The Heroes of Winterhaven - updated 8th June - Ryam Plays Dice

From Tiny Acorns, Part 1 - the view from the trenches With a horrific shriek, Kalarel was wrenched back through the portal by the hentai-tentacle demon, his screams presaging the eternity of torment his foul Master would subject him to. Only the desperate or insane ally themselves with Orcus...

How does pulling old edition pdfs benefit WotC?

I am 99% certain (based on WoTC actions and the statements from the CEO) that this is what will happen - "PDFs" will only be available online (while connected) DDi Compendium-style. Nice.
