How does pulling old edition pdfs benefit WotC?

Like he said - iirc, the pdfing of older products was stopped because it wasn't cost effective? Since it cant really cost that much to OCR a book (plus bookmarking, etc), the conclusion one can draw is pretty obvious...

I would normally not pimp my own 'blog but

Hey fella, (1) The mods don't normally read each thread - so to get their attention, you might be best to either: - report your own post and ask why it's been moved - email the mod(s) (addresses are in the meta forum) - post a thread in the meta forum about the move (prob not the best idea)...

Exclusive interview WotC President Greg Leeds

Thanks to Morrus, Piratecat and any other ENW staff for organising this. Thanks to Greg Leeds and WotC for participating. Though I will admit I would have preferred a 'meatier' Q&A session, but as the Stones song goes... ;) And of course my thanks to ENWorlders for their high level of...

Can you railroad a willing player? (Forked from "Is World Building Necessary?")

Porbably of no help whatsoever, but I use "scripted" as a postive term for railroad.

PHB2 Races = Mos Eisley Cantina

heh. You want a freak show? Complete Humanoids Handbook (2e). Though one player discovered their own 'Dalek' issue - Wemic + Ladder didn't mix.

Does 4e limit the scope of campaigns?

Speaking as a 4e fan, to a certain degree I feel 4e emphasises "at the table play" over "worldbuilding". The sections on roleplaying, on how to work with you players, etc. seem pretty prominent compared to the classic worldbuilding sections. That said I'm happy with that - and I don't feel...

Does 4e limit the scope of campaigns?

I am admittedly startled that D&D (whatever edition) is being pitched as the "go-to" game for non-combat mechanics.

DDI Subscribers: Are you satisfied with your subscription?

I love DDi with all my body including... you know the rest.

How much money do plan on purchasing 4E/GSL products this year?

While the polls on ENworld are just for amusement, I do find it funky that in both the 3e and 4e polls at 200-300 votes, the vote for $0 is 49.mumble%

advice to anyone still wondering if they should purchase a DDI subscription today

Yeah, but no, but no. (1) Wait until X. Sure this means you'll get better value for money. But what if you want the stuff now? New shiny and all that. (2) The Character Builder and Compendium aren't worth $5 a month? What? What? :-S I would probably pay double that, and still be happy. For...

How much money do plan on purchasing 4E/GSL products this year?

A goodly few hundred. At least. I'm a full year DDi subscriber (and loving it), and seemed to have walked out of the bookstore recently with a bunch of 4e books I never thought I'd buy (Draconomicon, I'm looking at you). Looks like Wizards mind-control beams are still nicely calibrated. Curses.

How much money do plan on purchasing 3E/OGL products this year?

most likely $0. I may pick up a copy of Delta Green I saw in a bookshop, but thats about it. Edit - I'll keep an eye on Pathfinder. If it lives up to the hype, I may mine it for stuff should I run 3e again.

What the Dorruh are you doing to my Eberron?

I suppose it is important to keep in mind that most of the changes are to align the setting with 4e - whereas FR had those AND the "fixes" to the perceived "problems" with the realms. Since Eberron didn't seem to have said problems (by design, to a certain degree), I would expect to see lower...

What the Dorruh are you doing to my Eberron?

WHO ARE YOU, AND WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH DARRIN? ;) As for the OP, meh. This has been telegraphed for a while, and I can't really get worked up about it, as I think they can retrofit the cosmology and retain the Eberron feel. Yeah it's possible this is The Shape Of Things To Come, as regards...

    4e: A work in progress?

Bah, someone got to mention "3.5" before me! I would agree that certain elements (largely the new bits) are a little unfinished.

What Level of Detail Do You Like in Your Games?

A long time ago (prob 10+ years), I used to want all the bookeeping detail, tracking all the cp, arrows, pretty much everything (this is as a player as well as DM). As time went on, I (and most of my group) emphasised that side of things a lot less - to the point where my D&D game treasure got...

I mainly got the "stepping sideways" vibe (from Werewolf) from it. Not that the effects are very similar though..

The Heroes of Winterhaven - updated 8th June - Ryam Plays Dice

Torture. It's such a harsh word. I'm reliably informed that 4e is a cinematic game, and the "good cop-bad-cop" interrogation technique is a fine cinematic trope. Of course it would have helped if we had remembered the "good cop" bit, instead of going with "bad-cop-worse cop".

    Misconceptions about 3.5...Answers

PHBI has a nice big "Core Rulebook I" on it. PHBII does not. and on page 4 refers to it using content from "the three Core Rulebooks". Oddly enough, the OP was the first to mention 4e. But mainly the 4e reference is due to: 4e has been ragged on (possibly by the OP, certainly by pro-3e...
