Pathfinder 1E Paizo improved? probably a myth

Open note to Paizo: Depending on your volume you guys might want to consider using a printer named Quad Graphics near Milwaukee. They are highly automated and can do things like presorting that will reduce your postage cost. A lot of national magazines use them for their efficiency and...

Can someone explain what "1st ed feel" is?

Necromancer games does not have as much first edition feel as they claim to. For me first edition feel is about an attention to asthetics, wonder, and environment that is lacking from most modules nowadays. 3.x edition is more about mechanics and a lot of the modules feel like some bad...

Monte Cook Presents the Year's best D20

Personally, I think Monte will do a good job on it, but in principle I think it sets a bad precedent. One publisher judging other publishers work seems like a bit of a conflict of interest.

Why _DON'T_ You Buy Dragon Magazine?

Not exactly on topic... but since it seems, Erik, like you have been looking into some revenue generating ideas lately, here are a couple thoughts. 1) You might want to consider renting out your subscriber lists for Dungeon and Dragon magazine. (If the subscriber base is uncomfortable with...

What are the classic pre-3e DUN-GEON issues?

I can't remember the issue number, but I've used Seige of the Kratys Freehold with several groups and they always seem to really like that one.

Is the RPG Industry on Life Support? (Merged w/"Nothing Dies")

Though I think there is always room to improve in anything, this allays a lot of my concerns. I appreciate you stopping by and giving us a better sense of how the market is looking :)

Is the RPG Industry on Life Support? (Merged w/"Nothing Dies")

Honestly, I think what is needed is to consider different market segments besides hardcore players. D&D 3.x, which is my favorite edition btw, has been streamlined to appeal to hardcore players. However, it does not do quite as good a job with two important segments of the market. The first...

Is the RPG Industry on Life Support? (Merged w/"Nothing Dies")

Thanks for the download, Tav. It's good to hear your perspective firsthand. Moreover, whether people agree or not with different points or perspectives, I think it is a healthy dialogue to have.

Is the RPG Industry on Life Support? (Merged w/"Nothing Dies")

And that is why any significant misteps by Wizards of the Coast could really be detrimental to the hobby as a whole. With the company owned by Hasbro I wouldn't think that the executive decision makers are as in tune with the market as in the past. I've seen firsthand how a couple bad...

Is the RPG Industry on Life Support? (Merged w/"Nothing Dies")

I'm all for gathering data around this subject. That would be great. However, how long do you propose to wait for this data to arrive? Would this data necessarilly be openly shared with the gaming community? Until that day arrives or someone has the 60k to conduct the market research...

    Academic Plague in gaming

I'm just going to port this over from the other thread since this is really talking about the same thing, just from a larger context and its something I feel strongly about. Sorry in advance if this cheeses anyone off... From another thread... A friend who just got back from GenCon Socal was...

Is the RPG Industry on Life Support? (Merged w/"Nothing Dies")

Though Dave I think there is a difference between decline of poor quality material on the market, and decline of the player base as a whole. While I wouldn't mind seeing a more limited set of higher quality material on the market, I would mind if people started dropping out of the hobby.

Is the RPG Industry on Life Support? (Merged w/"Nothing Dies")

Yeah, life support is a bit sensationalist of me. I'd agree it is not on life support per se.

    Academic Plague in gaming

According a seminar my friend attended at Gencon Socal on the state of the roleplaying industry people are leaving the hobby and it was rather depressing. If there is anybody that did attend the seminar, I'd be curious to hear exactly what was said. I agree with the essence of what Nisarg is...

Is the RPG Industry on Life Support? (Merged w/"Nothing Dies")

Is the RPG Industry on Life Support? A friend who just got back from GenCon Socal was relating to me one of the seminars he sat through on the State of the RPG Industry. Besides relating that the news was on the depressing side, he confirmed something that I have suspected for the last year or...

Why _DON'T_ You Buy Dragon Magazine?

I've had issues with delivery of Dungeon as well, but Jeremy in your customer service has been great. I'm wondering if your IT system or fulfillment house may be having issues.

Why _DON'T_ You Buy Dragon Magazine?

Why don't you buy the magazine? Because with D&D overall I'm really burnt out on new prestige classes, magic items, spells, etc. without need or context. As a DM I have enough of these to fill my game and adding more is an annoyance more than anything else. In fact when a player comes to me...

What are the best "Gamers seeking Gamers" websites for finding a new group?

Access Denied - This can be a good resource, but you have to be persistent as a lot of the postings are rather old. Meetup - Never gone to one myself, but I've heard interesting stories from people who have. Typically, three quarters of the people bordering on strange, while a quarter are...
