This rule pays for itself the very first time that a new player lives through the first round of combat. Attracting and retaining players is the highest good, both for WotC and for us gamers. And making an incompetent character should be an intentional player choice, rather than a pit trap...

It's actually growing on me. Put a goblin up on top of its shoulders, and it's even better. It's not the 'wolf with matted fur' warg that people remember from previous editions. It is a twisted and foul offshoot of a wolf, though, and I don't begrudge them for ditching the 'matted fur' iteration.

What about 3e's Cover and Concealment? Seriously, guys, Burst/Blast are specific game terms; you'll get used to them in no time.

I find this doubtful. "Barely-controlled elemental fury" screams Primal to me, and Primal is much broader than tree-hugging. See: the Barbarian.

Literacy should be a player choice to suit a character concept, rather than something attached to a class as a theoretical balancer. Really, in my experience with the barbarian's illiteracy, it was merely a skill point tax.

Yeah, it's armblade's just got the High Crit property - roll weapon damage again on a crit. I think picks and maybe axes have it as a base weapon ability.

It's as good a place as any to stuff the TWF powers, as TWF is inherently striker-ish and the rogue already has a ton of stuff. If you take TWF from the ranger, all he has left is 'good with a bow'.

I don't see how a Pit Fiend using his actions to a) lose an ally and b) deal damage to an enemy even remotely compares to a player using a roiling sack of fur to get a dozen plus free attacks.

I dearly hope there's a Druid Rat-Flinger Paragon Path in the PHB2. Maybe it could extend to Squirrels, Marmots, Weasels, and Hedgehogs, as well.
