Offering Races Greater Choice of Ability Modifiers

This almost completely reduces the distinctiveness of playing one race vs another. And I disagree with your premise that a race without a bonus is not worth playing. Nobody needs a 20, and everyone can get an 18 (a 16 is even easier). And why the hatred for dwarves? Seriously, you're arguing...

[APG] Dragon's Hoard Issue One Preview

Still, Hedge Magic runs up against the same problem as 3.x Polymorph - every new supplement adds versatility to the ability. Maybe requiring that you select a specific Ritual (subject to retraining) would be enough. I don't know.

    Boots of Spider Climbing

But they do let you climb like a spider. Once per day, when it's narratively awesome for you to do so, but they do. I'm glad that Magic no longer trumps Skill in D&D. If your Wizard wants to cling to the walls all day long, he can spend the feat to get the most out of his spider climbing.

Order of the Stick: Why isn't it going 4e?

You're the worst character ever, Therkla.;)

    Dragon Magazine

Me too, although I really would like them to hurry up and figure out their pricing scheme for full issues so I can get one now and then on RPGNow.

Does art matter in a publication?

Because 4e haters use exactly the same arguments as (or, more probably, co-opt them from) people who incidentally dislike parts of 4e. Without further information, it's impossible to tell someone who doesn't like (the art) from someone on an ideological quest to tear down WotC and 4th Edition.

    Halfling Staff Wizard . . . impossible?

You can whack things with it, however it's so unwieldy that it counts as an improvised weapon.

    [WotC_Logan] Why is Tiamat Huge?

My Huge Red Dragon mini is plenty big enough, thanks.

[APG] Dragon's Hoard Issue One Preview

That makes perfect sense. I'm looking forward to the Players Guide thanks to the previews - especially the Obligations and Commands.

I'm an archer: why shouldn't I be a beast master ranger?

Even if Ranged attacks don't flank, you can still use Unarmed attacks to flank.

    DDI subscription: still full pdfs?

I hope they figure the pricing out for back issues soon, because while I'm not looking to pay a monthly fee, I would like to be able to pick up issues of Dragon with appealing articles.

[APG] Dragon's Hoard Issue One Preview

I just picked DH#1, as well, and I have to say I'm in love. The Noble Titles and Feudal Obligations are wonderful, and I'm desperate for more Commands - the idea tantalizes me with its, well, deliciousness. Once you see how it works it's obvious that it's a great way to implement followers -...

Was there a real need for a fourth ed.? Or would tweaking 3.5 have done it for you?

Complete overhaul for me. I hacked apart 3e and stitched its parts back together in '05 and '06 (and still wasn't completely satisfied) and finally abandoned 3e completely a year before 4e was even announced. 4e was what pulled me back into D&D.

How much for a trained fox?

Yes, it does. It didn't mean that before (to prove the rule meant to test the rule), but the language has evolved through usage. Yes, the new meaning is nonsensical (how could something that breaks the rule uphold the rule?), but it's become an idiom anyways. EDIT: Majushi, you're forgetting...

New Conditions: Broken Arm and Broken Leg

I've always thought that Diseases were the way to go for emulating serious injuries.

    New Race: Holometallic

I like the name of the racial power, but it's completely overpowered. Half price magic items as a racial ability is too much. My other hesitation is the image of a sentient suit of plate strapping a suit of leather armor on over itself. I'm not sure how to fix that.

Opening Shove, New Warlord at Will

It's not a physical push - or at least, it doesn't have to be. Why not imagine it as an attack that forces the dragon to back up to avoid it (thereby giving an ally the opening)?

    Paladin multiclassing as a cleric

Because some classes should have certain skills. Rogue should have Thievery. Wizard should have Arcana. Paladin or cleric? You should have Religion. Going Paladin/cleric gets hosed RAW, okay, but do you really want a MC Wizard without training in Arcana? That's even worse. So go ahead and...

    Lay on Hands through multiclassing?

It's niche protection. If you can get Cantrips or Channel Divinity or Lay on Hands while being any other class, why would you choose to be a Wizard/Paladin in the first place? Class matters - pick one.

    Cantrips and Wizard Multiclassing

If I could be persuaded to give cantrips away at all, I'd modify option 2: In exchange for Scorching Burst 1/encounter, you can have one cantrip, 1/encounter.
