    There's something about Runepriests.

One reason is that I think flexible builds and powers would look a little poor sitting next to more specialized counterparts. Build a whole class like that and you've essentially established that flexibility as a defining trait for the class. OTOH, stick those powers next to specialized...

    There's something about Runepriests.

It seems like a test bed for the flexible rider mechanic. No other class really has the same sort of choose the effect on the fly ability. You can't really bolt the floating features and powers into an existing class.

    Come and (Don't) Get It?

Characters reliant on self heals and MC feat dailies might be hesitant regarding Come and Get It, since they tend to benefit less from heavily concentrating fire on the defender. In that case, something with a defensive emphasis might be more useful. Trip Up seems pretty good for polearm...

    Best Encounter Power Ever?

It's from the Feytouched Warlock path. Will of the Feywild is a solid power. OTOH, you have to be feytouched warlock...

    Where do you buy books?

I buy mostly from Amazon, but also from Borders (with coupons and often gift cards).

How much suspension of disbelief do you require?

Well, it depends. I don't require much SoD at all. OTOH, sometimes a plan might hinge a more realistic situation, so some of the stuff I'd normally be happy ignoring comes into focus. Knowing how much disbelief I'm going to be suspending, what genre conventions will be important, etc really...

Vote for your favorite Paragon Path - Part 12: Barbarian

Ancestral Weapon or Calm Fury both seem good. Most other barbarian paths don't seem very good at all.

Players dissatisfied with level of danger in 4e

Between ongoing damage, monster auras, and area attacks, it can be pretty easy to pile damage on a downed character even without enemies making a deliberate effort to finish them off. A number of monsters can isolate characters with abilities like swallow whole (and whatever devourers do)...

4e increased my DM prep time...

My experience was that 3e still required groups of monsters, even though the encounter building rules often said otherwise. Most monsters didn't really have anything to tip the economy of actions in their favor, so leaving sending them in ones or twos just meant they got mowed down since the...

    Are you a fudging fudger?

Depends on the system. Generally, I play DnD, and I'm not a huge fan of fudging things there. OTOH, I also run Mutants and Masterminds, and that system essentially runs on GM Fiat. Everything inflicts saves, and a badly blown save can be devastating. I can alter die rolls or handwave...

    Fudging for fun and profit.

My opinion is that not fudging is part of what produced a vivid memory like that. Everyone in our group remembers the time when a major villain was exposed for just a moment, but was hit and crit by our Paladin on a longshot attack. And then failed the massive death save, dying outright before...

    I'm getting Edition War fatigue

You only need to reply to Internet discussion when it amuses you. I drop tons of posts partway through because it's not worth finishing them. If there's a bunch of arguments you don't want to be involved in, then don't get involved. Check out some other forums if this one has you down.

    Forced Moved and Size Differential

The other thing is that often large size means more ability to move in a single stride. The giant staggering around is stumbling with giant sized strides, carrying him further than the person in the same position. Making that big monster take a few steps back is roughly equivalent to launching...

Official Rules Updates (March 02, 2010)

Basically, you take half as much damage if people need 20 to hit you versus them needing a 19 (barring crits and such). It's only a change of a 5% percent increment, but the character only hit on a 20 will live twice as long. As you move further from that extreme, the returns are much less...

    Order of the Stick 705

Well, the main guy said that the prison would be guarded by a skeleton crew. So in the picture, you see the other lady loaded up with a hammer, morningstar, and presumably a bunch of holy water vials. That's because Skeletons are a DnD monster that take reduced damage from non-bludgeoning...

Vote for your favorite Paragon Path - Part 8: Wizard

Actually, the damage dropped quite a bit too. Damage dice get bonuses from implements, items, and feats - and other abilities like Bolstering Blood. Usually, d6+mods would be more than 5. Granted, our group had been ruling that the damage from movement was essentially one lump of Xd6+mods...

    What Makes a Deity?

DnD has a pantheon of gods, each specializing in their own niche (and some overlap). I think it's a mistake to think of them as essentially monotheistic religions competing with each other. It should probably be expected that people, even if they primarily pray to one god, still acknowledge...

Official Rules Updates (March 02, 2010)

Weird change with Lasting Frost. Now it's worse for wizards throwing ice bombs, but the Ranger with dual Frost swords still gets his full damage... Not the way I would have considered changing it.

I've never played it, but I've heard that the traitor has little non-obvious ability to hurt the group. You could probably get information on BGG.
