Finalists in the WOTC Campaign/Setting Contest?

I thought the finalists were all WotC property.

Do you have Web history on? I think Google will use that to tailor search results based on past queries.

    Thinking about using a CS

If you are going to go with a 3.5 setting (and continue to play 3.5), I highly recommend Eberron over anything else. 1. The world is designed specifically for 3.5 rules rather than layered with traces of legacy rules like FR and Greyhawk. 2. It's not inundated with decades of supplements...

    Thinking about using a CS

If you plan on switching to 4e, I don't recommend using a setting that has mechanics specified in it. Instead, pick something that is pure fluff, such as Green Ronin's Pirate's Guide to Freeport. I haven't actually read it, yet, but I hear good things about it and might switch from Eberron to...

Variant: Players Roll All the Dice

I actually go one step further and have both sides roll. I considered the Players Roll variant, but I really like to keep them guessing rather than "Oh, the DC is X, and I rolled Y. I'll spend an action point."

    why orc pc?

I was referring to drow in Eberron specifically. Drow are painted as tribal groups that survive off the land in Xen'drik and sometimes war against each other as well as against giants.

Variant: Players Roll All the Dice

One of the nice ideas of this variant is if you combine it with Action Points, allowing players to improve results for spell DCs and AC.

    why orc pc?

Depends on the setting. In Eberron, orcs and drow are not assumed to be evil. Drow are more xenophobic than evil, too. There's nothing wrong with playing a drow that's something to the effect of Mani in Brotherhood of the Wolf.

Where to Place Expedition to the Ruins of Greyhawk

Wroat isn't too bad of a place, but I would lean toward Aundair given the focus on arcane magic. I wouldn't bother placing it in a city established in Eberron; instead I would simply drop it as is as a new separate city, possibly a free city to keep with the feel.

Why do they bother putting up Map previews?

Well, now I know why the web guys have been busy. Now that things have slowed down at least a little, can we expect to see high-resolution maps for Eyes of the Lich Queen soon?

    D&D 4E WotC and 4E Communication Feedback

The blog idea isn't a bad one. Even if it's simply a link to some new tidbit found in a thread, podcast, video, or elsewhere. They could make it open to all WotC staff to add to the same blog, too.

    D&D 4E WotC and 4E Communication Feedback

As far as I know, the game table is "dumb" meaning that it doesn't govern any rules. As such, no one would be stopping you from playing with 3e rules.

    D&D 4E WotC and 4E Communication Feedback

Mike, I have been very actively listening to the D&D and Gamer Radio Zero podcasts as well as paying careful attention to the YouTube videos from GenCon. On top of that I have been trying to keep up with the WotC Staff blogs and the general 4e forums both here and on the WotC forums. I'd like to...

    Dragon Digital This October...

I think the misunderstanding is that D&D Insider is a combination of things, including Dragon and Dungeon. An $8-$12 monthly subscription to D&D Insider will provide the following: -Dragon and Dungeon articles 3/week (this might be available to everyone according to the D&D Podcast Episode 14)...

    Wizards and Drivethrough...

I think they are still moving forward with that effort. They just released Forge of War yesterday. I'm hoping that the prices will drop either just before or after 4e is released. I'd like to get a copy of some of my books in an electronic format so that I can easily search it.

    d & d website articles... gone?

Strange. I was just looking at them last night. I chalk this up to a glitch with the change to the new site.

    d & d website articles... gone?

Point being, they haven't been removed as part of some conspiracy to move it all to the D&DI. They are being recovered. For example, all of the Eberron archives are back.

The archives are back. Product galleries are under Products. Setting archives are under Settings. General archives are under Features.
