    R&R: Excalibur, Olympus and ???

I don't actually expect to run a campaign straight off of either book myself. I'm going to mine both for things to include in a game I'm building that is pseudo-Arthurian in flavor but has a number of other elements. Among those other elements is an island nation full of "Spartans" and the R&R...

    R&R: Excalibur, Olympus and ???

Oh, I know others could be doing a d20 Rome book. I just haven't heard about one, though I have asked around about one once or twice before. I decided to ask about the R&R line when I saw the Olympus book and realized that it was intended to be a line of books rather than the one-off that I...

    R&R: Excalibur, Olympus and ???

I'll probably be picking that boxed set up. I'm not specifically looking for Egypt, but I'm a sucker for historical and pseudo-historical stuff so I'll probably be getting it. I was just hoping to check R&R's list to see if someone is ever going to do a d20 Rome book. I suppose there isn't...

    d&d and terrorism

Most pre-modern cities were tinderboxes. A few well placed fireballs by a dimension-dooring/teleporting mage could really wreck a city. "If our demands are not met, another city shall meet the same firey fate as Deepport! Free Zarzibania! Give us Independence NOW!"

    R&R: Excalibur, Olympus and ???

My speculation would be vikings or egyptians next, but I was hoping to find something more concrete than that...

    Battle Box!

Two things concern me here. One is the battle map. It sounds as if the "Dungeon theme" might make it less useful for generic applications. Is there, perhaps, a reverse side that's just plain ruled into squares for other applications? The other is the sheet of spell templates. Are these...

    R&R: Excalibur, Olympus and ???

So, there are two Relics and Rituals "genre" books now, one for Arthurian games and one for Ancient Greece. Is there any information what other books they might have planned in this line and when they might be released? Thanks.

    Intelligent Weapon/EGO contest (unusual situation)

Let me start by saying I'm the DM in question here. I generally play pretty loose with alignments. I use them mostly for purposes of spells and items that affect a particular alignment. I don't worry about closely monitoring every action for alignment drift. I'm more concerned that the...

    Rate Doom 3

Oh, god yes. I'm starting to hate this game because of all that stuff. Case in point is right now where I'm in alpha-lab-2 or thereabouts and I'm stuck in some pit where I carefully look for all the places stuff could come out and can't find more than one but suddenly, as soon as I press the...

King Arthur review in Boston Globe

I've seen a number of reviews that basically trash the movie for trying to find the Dark Ages roots of the Arthurian legend rather than doing yet another Mallory-esque version full of all sorts of high medieval anachronisms. The part I find most cringeworthy would be how a number of reviewers...

I want to hear your Time Travel adventure stories

Once in 2e Forgotten Realms, I started a campaign at the time of the fall of Netheril. The PCs decided to go hunt down treasure in the ruins of the fallen cities (literally, for those who don't know the Realms, the Netherese flew around in flying cities and the Fall of Nether was literally the...

HUGE problem with governing! (PLEASE HELP!)

S'mon and billd91 are right about the density of communities. You probably DO have this much to deal with. Some suggestions for rules that abstract things a bit more would be: AEG's Empires book. It has a system that scales with the area you're dealing with. and TSR's old Dungeons and...

Your biggest screw-up as a DM?

My biggest mistake was letting myself to be talked into allowing psionics into my campaign on three seperate occasions during 2nd edition. Each time turned out to be a campaign wrecker to some degree or another. The first campaign was outright killed by the psionic characters. I eventually...

Your biggest screw-up as a DM?

I'm pretty sure I've had both situations happen at some point. I suspect my current group deliberately tries to figure out what it is I've planned for them and then does something else on the theory that whatever I "wing" will not be as nasty dangerous as what I've planned.

How would you describe these "hew-mons?"

An angle to all this that everyone seems to be forgetting is how these races are going to "deal with" the human problem. Many of the solutions they come up with could well be a case of becoming as bad as the people you're fighting.

    All-time favorite fictional characters

Hmm, lets see: Bilbo Baggins G'kar (B5 -- I like him better than Londo) Ivanova (B5) Jimmy the Hand (Raymond Feist's Riftwar books) Marcus Didus Falco (Lindsey Davis' Roman mysteries) Perhaps more later

Hmmm, I've been seeing people talk about bookcovers and bookmarks on this thread but I can't find them on your webpage. (Or the pencil holders for that matter...) Am I blind?

    Alternate Magic Rules

Well, I don't mind them having some effective spells and my biggest worry is keeping the wizards from fireballing the charging knights or the opposing men at arms. Caster level will go a long way towards doing that. Sounds a bit like wild magic  I may just have to use wild magic!
