Rate Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (spoilers)

Well, I addressed this a bit when I edited my comments in my last post.

Well, Note: Added a BUNCH of comments during the edit.

Rate Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (spoilers)

Ah, so Snape was basically a Malfoy or did he have some reason for trying to get them in trouble beyond being a stuck up jerk? Still, I can see why he would have a pretty low opinion of James Potter and pals. Thanks for clearing that up.

Kingdoms of Kalamar: Ask the Emperor!

Name pronunciation has been my main hangup with Kalamar. I just can't seem to wrap my tongue around some of those names.

Rate Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (spoilers)

FWIW, I have not read the Potter books, but I liked this movie. That said, I have to qualify it by saying that a number of things didn't make much sense until after the movie when my Potter-reading friends explained them to me. I can't comment on any subplots from the book because I haven't...

    Celtic Monsters

I'll check out these sources. The Sidhe will probably be elves with a lot of magic with a lot of the feel being in appearances. I may apply the half-fey template, but the one I saw said something about wings if I recall correctly. I don't really want winged elves. I wasn't aware there were...

    "Fey" Changlings?

I'm putting together a vaguely Celtic campaign for my group and I'd like to include some kind of "changeling". In legend, these were fey babies who were substituted for human babies. I'm not looking to make them evil in any way, just "odd" or "differerent". Are there any good sources I might...

    Celtic Monsters

I'm trying to build my "Monster Palette" for a vaguely celtic game. I'm pretty open at this point. "Fey" comes to mind, but most of the fey critters that come immediately to mind are Greek-inspired, like dryads. I know there was the firbolg thing going on, but am not aware of any other...

    Whence the Romans?

The boards won't let me PM you. Presumably because I'm not a community supporter.

Why the hate for anime? (Y da hat 4 anime?)

I have to admit this stuff creeps me out a bit. My only real gripe with "Anime" as an entertainment subculture is the way its creeping into other areas. I like realistic art and I can deal with the stylized art of anime when its in anime but when it starts to creep into other areas, I get...

Arthurian Magic -- Reining in the magical artillery.

GT? The only GT I can think of off the top of my head is GURPS Traveller, and I don't think that's what you mean.

Arthurian Magic -- Reining in the magical artillery.

I should note that I'm not worried they would be mobile artillery with the LoE system. My problem there is I just don't want a spell point system. I suppose I could make up some technobabble (magobabble?) to explain how both systems work in the world but I'm not keen on doing that. If I...

    Whence the Romans?

I'm aware of the "Glory of Rome" book from 2nd edition. I've also seen the two story hours mentioned. I've been following the Alea Iacta story hour but am intimidated by the amount of "catch up" involved with Old One's. I have made my own "Pseudo-Rome" setting that looks something like...

Arthurian Magic -- Reining in the magical artillery.

I've been looking at doing a vaguely Celtic-Arthurian game. I've looked at both Relics and Rituals: Excalibur and Legends of Excalibur and they're both fine books, but I'm not terribly happy with the solutions either gives to the "magic problem". Specifically, the Arthurian/Celtic genre should...

    Same D&D, Different Themes

Romans. I'd like to see a Roman theme. That and an Arthurian theme. I'd like to see either.

    Whence the Romans?

We've been seeing 3.x products inspired by earth cultures ranging from Africa to the Orient yet I see no d20 Romans. It would seem like Romans are a no-brainer. There is so much great imagry and cool things to do ranging from senatorial and imperial intrigue, exploring new lands only recently...

My Paladin killed a.. 2nd thread (The Verdict is IN - p4)

"Greetings. I did intend to say that that consideration was not mentioned in these proceedings. I think it a relevant point and is certainly something Vindicator should consider in the future, but it should not be a cause for him to lose his paladinhood. Perhaps I err in favor of the virtue of...

My Paladin killed a.. 2nd thread (The Verdict is IN - p4)

Well, that's probably because the name was created as a joke for a one shot in which I was playing a paladin, but the one-shot became a campaign and the character became a serious character. The name, however, stuck and Max became one of my longest running characters ever.

My Paladin killed a.. 2nd thread (The Verdict is IN - p4)

"And it is for this reason that I believe he should be considered innocent. We must not forget that he was suddenly and unexpectedly confronted with a great evil. Even under the best of circumstances, it can be very difficult to avoid springing into action and visiting the righteous fury of...

Upgrade to new edition = World-Shaking Event

I'd only really consider such an event if I were switching editions in the middle of a campaign. If it were a new campaign with new PCs, I'd just start with the new rules and go from there. Now, if I were switching game systems, which I have contemplated at times, I might consider such an...
