Where’s The Deathstalker RPG? Part 1

As much as I liked the cheesy 70's and 80's Conan knock-off movies, I didn't see Deathstalker until recently (out of curiosity, and only the first). Yet, as bad as it can be in its depictions, the more recent Games of Thrones does way worse things during its run (especially the 3rd season; I...

What do YOU plan on doing with Daggerheart?

I'd be very surprised if roll20, Foundry and the like haven't already been in communication with Darrington for getting it rolled out to their VTT's.

    AD&D/OSRIC: How did initiative work?

From what I remember (it's been at least 30 years, always preferred to use B/X's version): After checking & handling surprise, the Caller/PCs make a general statement about intended actions and the DM makes a mental note about what the enemy is doing. Both sides roll 1d6 and the side rolling...

Games you need to go outside your normal group to play

I've enjoyed it way more than I should be. I'm tracking my progress in a journal, and I'm on my 3rd mission in the Gamma Quadrant so far (a sort of Voyager story, having been moved light years from my original patrol area and discovering new worlds while dealing with a possible Dominion...

Goodman Games Revives Relationship With Anti-Semitic Publisher For New City State Kickstarter [UPDATED]

Is Goodman going to be at Gencon? If so, I imagine they're going to get an earful there.

Games you need to go outside your normal group to play

Call of Cthulhu - my wife won't play anything scary, so my first game was at the local FLGS (first time playing it in 30 years, after having it on my shelf for 15 - whoo!). Wrath and Glory - my regular group likes to inject comedy too much to take the game seriously. Star Trek Adventures -...

Do you buy new versions of TTRPG games when you haven't had time to play the older version sitting on your shelf?

Well, there is WEG Star Wars 1st, 2nd and 2nd Revised and Expanded in there, as well as two versions of Wizard's Star Wars (though I was counting each publisher only once). EDIT: Actually, I forgot one for Wizards - they did one based on 3.0, one on 3.5 and then SAGA edition.

    WoD renaming, White Wolf returns

Curious, when you say “skinsuit”, are you talking what we in these parts term “reskinning” - taking the stats/mechanics of an existing thing and using it to represent something else? Because the word your using sounds very venomous and borderline hateful when I see it, and from others...

    Let's Read Daggerheart +

Ah, because I was using the generic sheet, it didn't have the back side, with the class suggested Inventory! Thanks!

One of the campaign worlds is called Motherboard, which is technomagical in nature.

    Let's Read Daggerheart +

One thing that came up as a big question when I was having my group make characters: How do you handle equipment that isn't a weapon or armor? I see each class has two examples of a trinket to add, but the D&D staples of the likes of rations, camping equipment and "dungeon survival" gear...

Adventures and supplements based on high society or nobility?

Legends of the Five Rings can certainly support it, especially if you pick up the "Winter Court" series. 7th Sea can too, especially if you deal with Montaigne or Vodacce-based characters. I think Amber diceless may fall in this category, but not with nobles but immortal individuals?

Do you buy new versions of TTRPG games when you haven't had time to play the older version sitting on your shelf?

Game designers who are active with their system never stop fiddling with their games. Eventually, you get to a point that all the changes you've incorporated is something you want to push out to everybody, thus a new edition. I think I've got around 5 editions of Star Wars. I still use WEG...

What do YOU plan on doing with Daggerheart?

Oh, gonna use this for my Burglarcat* race if anyone wants to try it in my game(s). I'm waffling running my Crimson Empire campaign world or grabbing one of the maps in the back of the book and working with the players to flesh it out. * Originally, they were modeled after Puss in Boots, but...

    Daggerheart has been Officially Released

I'll agree cold stops can be bad for the game, but I don't necessarily agree rolls should be just flat out be dropped like above. In Daggerheart on the lock I'd probably still have the roll (and just one), but the failure (or success) would potentially be more important beyond just getting the...

Daggerheart Review: The Duality of Robust Combat Mechanics and Freeform Narrative

Had my family make characters last night. My two sons, one who is autistic, took right to it. They are chomping at the bit to get into play. My wife, who has a learning disability (and I think is probably autistic like my youngest) bounced right off. She couldn't handle the open narrative...

D&D Debuts Playtest for Psion Class

I was against the "psionics is just another form of magic" for a long time, but as I started to put together my own version realized it just made more sense to use existing spells. Savage Worlds does something similar, with generalizing power and then letting players skin it to fit the idea of...
