    TSR Q&A with Gary Gygax

I'm just champing at the bit to see who would win. Maybe I'll fix myself some Arabian coffee, lace it with some Captain Morgan spiced rum, sit back, and watch the photo finish. Who will pony up the next joke?

    TSR Q&A with Gary Gygax

You won't make a foal out of ME with your un-bridled jokes! My mane goal is to keep myself stable during these exchanges.

    TSR Q&A with Gary Gygax

My first con ever was Origins II. After that, I could tell people "Why yes, I went to Johns Hopkins University, thank you very much!" ;) I went to Origins II through IV, took a long break, then ended my drought by going to Gen Con 18. Incidentally, that very fall after Origins 78, I was...

    TSR Q&A with Gary Gygax

Yes, Origins 78 (I had wondered why they didn't just call it Origins IV) was a riot, although it was during the days when I was a heavy-duty wargamer, setting up my tent on Avalon Hill, and listening to the grizzled veteran wargamers complain about "Those rezzin-frezzin roleplaying gamers...

    TSR Q&A with Gary Gygax

My favorite T-shirt: "I may grow old, but I'll never grow up". I'd still be wearing it to cons, but my teenage son stole it. So instead I wear my Origins 78 T-shirt and watch other gamers go "What the heck is THAT!?!?"

    TSR Q&A with Gary Gygax

Well, as they say, you can lead a horse to water, but if you can get it to float on its back, then you're REALLY onto something!

D&D 4E Tell us what you like and don't like about 4e

But I have my doubts on the new additional cure spells: Cure Just A Tiny Scratch Cure Flesh Wound Cure That Slight Limp That's Been Bugging Me Cure This Wicked Awesome Sucking Chest Wound Cure Ham And I don't like how they took Cause Fear and changed it into something that goes by degrees...

    D&D 4th Edition Next Year?

That's what I had heard this past July at a gamers' gathering BBQ. Mearls was hired to be the "architect" of 4E. Made some of us want to spit out our food, since none of us wanted to see another edition of D&D out so soon.

    Funniest Moments

Hey Terraism! I like your name! ;) The only other time I've actually heard someone use the word "Terraism" is when a player in my campaign talked to another gamer and described certain things that keep consistently popping up in all of my campaigns. Sample "Terraisms", at least according to my...

    D&D Music / Soundtracks?

Midnight Syndicate has an "officially licensed" product, a D&D soundtrack CD. I've used just a few tracks, quietly in the background, and it DOES add atmosphere. But use it too much, and it loses its specialness. And if it's too loud, it's a distraction. I highly recommend the MS CD...

    Funniest Moments

OK, I don't know how well this will translate into a post, but this happened two sessions ago. This may be one of those "You had to be there and see it," but I'll give it a go. The party was at The Phantom Knight Inn in Everlund (Silver Marches, Forgotten Realms), and they met a favorite NPC of...

Agreed. That's what we do in my campaign as well! :)

    PVP does D&D again.

My gaming group bought me the hat a few Christmases ago. I wear it on occasion, especially at cons, when I want to go for the "Gaming DM Dork Look". I don't read the strip anymore, but the hat does indeed rock, and occupies a place of honor on my shelf, right next to plush Cthulhu! :D

    PVP does D&D again.

I know a guy who named ALL of his characters Logan Ford, and simply put a Roman numeral after each one ("Oh, Logan Ford VI died? OK, I rolled up a fighter...he's Logan Ford VII"). He said that his character was as brave as Logan (from Logan's Run), but had a low Dexterity like Gerald Ford (for...

Paranoia virgins, looking for some advice how to run a game...

Ah, Paranoia....Lovely game. Here's advice, and, of course, a war story: 1. For the computer's voice, try doing a very pleasant HAL2000 voice. 2. Spurious logic is the rule of the day: "Rookie troubleshooter armor is red" "Tomatoes are red" "Therefore, rookie troubleshooter armor is a tomato"...

    Humorous descriptions for skill failures/successes

    1. Thanks! Glad to be of service! :) 2. Yeah, I get a warm special feeling when I sucker the party in on a nice lie! 3. It WOULD make a great article...possibly in, oh, I don't know, an April issue of Dragon? ;) And of course, AFTER I sent my initial post, and AFTER I edited said post for...

    Humorous descriptions for skill failures/successes

A "1" on a Knowledge(dragons) check: "Not only do you fail to remember what an amethyst dragon's breath weapon is, you also are hard pressed to remember what ANY dragon's breath is, what a dragon even LOOKS like, and I wouldn't put down any money on you successfully spelling the word 'dragon'...

Swear At & Insult Your Players

I always liked the curses available in Blackadder, first season, where he's been made Archbishop of Canterbury, and is reading over the list of curses available for sale to the general public. One of them was something like: "May a body part fall off at an inconvenient moment".
