Trend of Companies heading away from d20

AEG's 3rd Edition Legend of the Five Rings goes back to the d10 roll and keep system. It's a top notch system and is the best one that I've seen which promotes well rounded characters.

    2006 WotC D&D Product Survivor

Heh, me too. I just got so excited about taking a poll that I didn't bother to read the directions. I sure hope I don't knock out my favorite product!

Ever just redo a players character sheet?

Once I had a character sheet that was just the stats written on a sheet of looseleaf paper, so it didn't look official and didn't have the standard set up. I was absent for a game and I guess because it bugged him the GM redid my sheet for the next session. Opposite to what most other people...

    Cursed items?

My friends and I are always amused when we reminisce about the time our friend greedily took the magical girdle from the treasure pile with no discussion about who would get what. When he saw it his eyes shone brightly (thinking it was a Girdle of Giant Strength) and, of course, it was a Girdle...

    Cooperative based party

Ah, I didn't really consider AE spells. That's a good point. Still, I'd like to see how well in practice it would work.

    Cooperative based party

I like the pipecleaner and index card ideas, they'd help a ton with keeping things organized. I'd really like to play in a party like this, I think it would be very interesting tactically and the tight-knitness of the group is very appealing too.

    Cooperative based party

I just got Complete Psionics for Christmas and it made me think that a neat group would be one based all around abilities that enhance your allies (specifically ones with a set radius, not enhancements such as buff spells). How well do you think a group consisting of a Bard, Marshall, Dragon...

What was so magical about 1E/OD&D art?

Generally speaking, I think the 1st Ed. artwork pretty terrible. Not because it's black and white, I just dislike the style most of the pictures have.

    A Riddle: Feedback Wanted

Regardless of whether the 'cleave' verb use was correct, I thought it was a clever puzzle. I think the main crux is whether or not your players will know that definition. I didn't know that definition of cleave, so while I could appreciate the riddle after the fact there was no way I would...

Delivering touch attack spells with a melee attack

The Daggerspell Mage and Daggerspell Shaper have the ability to deliver Touch attack spells with a melee attack of their dagger. And a mage with an imbued staff familiar can deliver Touch attacks with a melee attack of their staff (applying quarterstaff damage too). Are there other feats...

What's giving up a familiar worth?

I believe it was Dragon 338.

How would you price this ring?

I think 10k is a fair price. As someone else mentioned, most Trained Only skills work best with ranks in them. Below are the trained skills and some of the DCs. Some of them are helpful (Knowledge or Profession) but most of the obtainable DCs don't give that much benefit...

    How dumb are constructs?

I agree. If I was GMing they'd definitely be wary enough to want to get out of the pit.

What's giving up a familiar worth?

Unearthed Arcana has a variety of sub-specializations for specialist Wizards that give a special ability in place of having a familiar. Some of them are pretty good.

    Seeking Feats

The Greatspear is an exotic weapon, so costs a feat to use without penalty. (Although looking at online sources I can't find that the greatspear *does* let you attack adjacent foes. Maybe I'm thinking of another spear or maybe I'm just plain wrong! I'll check when I have my books with me.)

    looking for fugitive modules/adventures...

I think the 7th Sea setting and system is excellent. I would say it stereotypically has a swashbuckling air to it but it's really all in how the GM presents the game. If you want a more desperate, darker game it'll easily comply as long as you keep the mood desperate and dark. Great setting...

    Seeking Feats

I know you specified longspear but if you're willing to compromise on that, there's the greatspear exotic weapon (C. War.). It does 2d6 dmg, has reach and allows you to attack adjacent opponents. There's also the "Shield and Pike Style" from Dragon 338 which lets you get the full shield bonus...

AU - What's good to play?

I like the sprytes a ton. I'd play a Rogue sniper spryte if I was in a game.

    Midnight in Maryland

Hi all, I'm getting geared up to try my hand running a Midnight game. Right now I have two definite players and two possible players. The game will be on Sundays from 1pm to 6 or 7 in Baltimore City, Charles Village area. We're all well acquainted with d20 but I haven't run a game since 2nd...
