    D&D 5E (2014) Skills as mundane Spells

This seems a more workable approach to me. The one proposed by Frostmarrow just wouldn't work for any conception of a D&D game which I'm used to. The alternative is to ditch classes. Allow anyone to learn magic, because at epic levels everyone has magic through either their native spells or...

Pathfinder 1E Metamartial Maneuvers and Pathfinder

I've removed a couple of posts from this thread as they were not really appropriate for the kind of community which we are keeping here. Thanks

    OotS 888

Apparently unlike most people, I'm delighted with this cartoon. It doesn't have to proceed upon a schedule which I anticipate in order for it to be enjoyable for me. I'm just enjoying the journey.

    3 weeks till new Who!

No discussion about the doctors name yet? Well, I'll wait for others to start it...

    3 weeks till new Who!

That bothered me too - it was such an astonishingly stupid thing to do that I can't believe that neither the Doctor nor Clara batted an eyelid about it.

    3 weeks till new Who!

I'd not spotted that it was Emma Peel... Great acting there.

    Iron Man 3 - Spoilers

I specially agree about the final action set piece, it essentially devalued iron man in a confusing mess from what I could see. The plot twist fooled me - although I'd rather have seen some fidelity to the original concept

    [Trailer] Thor: The Dark World

Yep, quite enjoyed it. Wasn't it opening everywhere that day?

    [Trailer] Thor: The Dark World

I wished they'd shown that trailer when I saw Iron Man 3 today, rather than a year-old superman trailer!

    CONAN THE DESTROYER

Really? I completely hated the first Ahnold movie because it was so far away from Howards work: 1. Conan isn't a wild young warrior, he is a prisoner boy who does pit fighting when he grows up and has to be chased out of his cell by his guards! 2. Conan dies on a cross. In the story where he...

Who was your favourite 2000AD character?

Halo Jones was easily my favourite - I would love to see where they would go if they had completed the Ballad. I really liked the original Sam Spade adventure too.

Netflix or Love Film (in the UK)

Streaming is what I'm interested in. I think the uk is suffering from the old fashioned "market segmentation" angle that the media companies love so much. Apparently the uk Netflix I'd will work in the us (or via a us proxying service, such as a friend of mine uses). I'm definitely leaning...

    Pandemic - collaborative boardgame

Just the basic level - four epidemic cards. We had medic, dispatcher and operations expert in this game

Netflix or Love Film (in the UK)

So, I want to start up a subscription to either Netflix or Lovefilm. Neither of them wants to put their UK catalogue out in public much (perhaps because it suffers so much in comparison to their US catalogue!). Has anyone had experience with either or both? Prepared to give a recommendation...

    3 weeks till new Who!

I couldn't agree more, sadly. It might have been a neat turn that the 'mummy' wasn't actually the foe but was just the alarm clock. But the screwdriver ("great at opening things") now telekinetically lifts doors? and creates forcefields? What? The doctors speech that turns out to be...

    Pandemic - collaborative boardgame

Turns out that we were playing the Researcher wrong in a couple of our early games. Much harder when she can only give cards regardless of city! Still, we managed to save the world on the very last turn before cards ran out last night. Victory is sweet!

    Pandemic - collaborative boardgame

You may well have known about and played Pandemic for years, but I only heard about it last week and I've just started playing it this week, and I want to tell everyone what a great game it is! It is a collaborative game for 2-4 players. That's right, you are not competing against each other -...

Great movies you might not have heard of.

Um, Strictly Ballroom (australian movie about two young dances that challenge the ballroom scene) was from 1992! However, I really enjoy the 2004 remake starring Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez under exactly the same name. Cheers

    D&D 5E (2014) Polymorph

Maybe they are pre emptively removing the abusive options? I'm ok with that.
