    Mirror Test

Is this prep for next year's April 1st?

So that's it for 4th edition I guess?

I wonder how modern an assumption that is though? I started playing with OD&D and adventuring/fun/discussion was generated from our imaginations, not the release of supplements. Same when we moved to RQ. Could it be that we have got used to 'support' being a constant stream of new rules or...

    D&D 5E (2014) When to run from a 5e lich

Personally I prefer liches to start becoming available at around 12th level - because they have that unique ability to 'grow as foes' with the party (as long as the phylactery is suitably well hidden - easy at those lower levels). Then parties can fight the same foe numerous times, he and they...

    Strongest racial animosity in D&D?

    What, no elf-dwarf?

Trail of Cthulhu - my first experiences

When I was running the game the player had a sense of unfolding mystery, if that makes sense - the clues he was chasing down kept opening up additional interesting avenues. There were several routes to get to the finale, and there was one avenue which he didn't investigate at all, and another...

Why are the biggest games Fantasy games?

I think it comes down partly to the fact that fantasy is inherently a more limited environment. Sure people could create rampant dreamscapes, but the typical fantasy world tends to be pseudo-medieval and has relatively limited resources. In modern and sci-fi worlds people have far greater...

    D&D 5E (2014) A Compromise on Hit Points

Needlessly antagonistic here, please avoid casting aspersions on other play styles. Thanks.

    Let's read the entire run

Got it. Thanks for reporting it. As a general rule it is good to note that you've reported it by giving xp to the spammer after making the report. That means that the fact it is reported disappears when we ban their asses to Saturn.

    Unhappy with new forum setup.

I'd have thought finding the other thread in this forum was obvious, but in case not http://www.enworld.org/forum/meta/330172-big-changes-acoming-merging-d-d-forums.html Cheers

    Looper [spoilers]

Furthermore, Jeff Daniels and the bad guys don't want to change the future dramatically. Joe absolutely DOES want to change the future dramatically. Cheers

Trail of Cthulhu - my first experiences

I've just bought the PDF adventure 'the watchers in the sky' - a pretty creepy 'Lovecraft meets The Birds'. I particularly like the NPC characterisation notes and the way that the adventure attacks the PCs sources of stability and leaves many things unexplained. I look forward to running it...

    Looper [spoilers]

I liked it. I liked the way that at I enjoyed the minor TK setup, and the borrowing from other classic stories on that theme.

A non white male middle class British Doctor?

What about Christopher Ecceleston? He always struck me as being a working class northerner Doctor Personally I'd be happiest with some variation on white male british doctor. I don't care about class or age, but those things I'd like to stay consistent... it still gives a huge range of...

Trail of Cthulhu - my first experiences

Castle Bravo sounds particularly interesting (I've also been tempted by The Armitage Files). I do like tales which are interwoven with real events. I've heard great things of a game devised and run by KidCthulhu simply called 'Kursk'.

Big changes a'coming! Merging the D&D forums

Something went wrong with my xp awarding, so I'll use a whole post to say thanks Dustyboots - this is indeed a major factor, and highlights the main mitigation method for those who don't like fish fingers in their custard. I think this approach is going to work well for us.

Trail of Cthulhu - my first experiences

I've been thinking of picking up one or two adventures designed for the system - are there any which you can particularly recommend from experience? Cheers
