    New Character Builder from WotC!

Lets see here, when I make a new character I use my Mac to open-up the program at home and make my PC. Then I print out the PC and play it at the game at the store where I have no internet. Frankly, I'm good to go. As a DM, I rarely looking at my player's sheets prior to seeing them in hardcopy...

November 16th release for Web-based Character Builder

I sorry. I don't remember ever saying your were paranoid, or jumping to conclusions, but hey, if an apology makes you feel better, then I'm sorry. Maybe I was drunk posting....

    Possible DDI News...

Well, score one for the internet rumors! Personally, I wouldn't call the current CB easy or elegant.

What Did Alignments Ever Do For D&D?

So he'd likely giving someone the death penalty for double parking? Or ED-209?

    Kill the Messengers... Thanks WotC!

They've released a few "special" adventures online. Dungeon 166 has Storm Tower from one of the Penny Arcade podcasts. Also, there's a second level Eberron Adventure that was given away at one of the Free RPG days under the Test Drive section.

DDI "Web Tools Suite" (rampant speculation)

Geez, how often do I have to repeat this! Look the web tools their developing are tools to go along with The Hoffmann Institute. They relaunched the site recently to use for Gamma World. Gamma World is the first of several "modern" games based on 4e to come out and next year it's going to be...

    The "That's Unrealistic!" Retort Compendium

Well, there's the Wooly Mammoth. They went extinct about 8,000 years ago (with some isolated pockets lasting longer), and it's undisputed that early humans hunted them. There's some debate going on as to what caused their extinction, but it's possible that Wooly Mammoths were one of the first...

What Did Alignments Ever Do For D&D?

Out of curiosoty, what version of D&D are you playing? I figured it wasn't a spoken language. The impression I got reading the Rules Cyclopedia was that you could communicate things to people of the same alignment without people of different alignments understanding. Is that how you've played...

    The "That's Unrealistic!" Retort Compendium

Good point. My realism radar goes off at weird things to. Maybe in size, but a dagger is designed not just to pierce, but to cut and slash. Depends on where you put the pin. But lets say we keep the size, but flatten it so it's more dagger like, and now some crazy guy is trying to cut me open...

What Did Alignments Ever Do For D&D?

In basic D&D there were alignment languages. (Old schoolers never seem to mention that when reminiscing...) IIRC, it was more body language. If you changed alignment, you forgot your alignment language and learned the new one. Weird.

    The "That's Unrealistic!" Retort Compendium

What makes you think that? You say it's physics, but really, we're talking about biology. Take an elephant. Elephant's have incredibly think skin, about 1" think. Plunge a 5" dagger in, and you have 4" of penetration beyond the skin. Don't forget that a large animal means large organs. To me...

    Slayer build sillyness

Out of curiosity, do you plan becoming proficient with the Gouge? I gotta say, I think the essentials melee classes that have been released so far do a good of being compatible with Dark Sun. Anyways, Melee Training has been discussed to death here when the essential fighter builds were first...

    New web-based content?

It has nothing to do with the CB. Recently Wizards resurected an old website: The Hoffmann Institute for the Gamma World Game Day. The adventure had the URLs for various websites so the player's could access the content online. (Old-fashioned handouts were provided for those without internet)...

    WWGWD today

What MerricB said. The URLs were: The Security Tape. The Email. The floor plan. While none of the links on the PungCo lead anywhere but to a fake 404 error, The Hoffmann Institute is a "real" website for an organization that investigates weird phenomena. Those links work. Maybe this has...

    Monster Vault adventure... any info?

My understanding was that a DM could start with the Red Box and then continue on through the DM Kit and the Monster Vault adventures, thus providing an adventure path for the group. Most of the hoopla around the Vault has been about the monsters though.

    The "That's Unrealistic!" Retort Compendium

I'm a nerd. And I'm sure I don't have an 18 Str. I think you're right. I think part of it is that when we see Str 18 or Dex 18 people on things like the Olympics, we don't see them doing the kinds of things D&D emulates, so it's really hard to imagine them doing something else. Here's an...

    The New Core Rulebook

Really. And I didn't say I was unhappy with it. Not really. The Compendium isn't as useful as the SRD was in terms of accessibility. But it makes up for that in terms of scope. I do find it interesting. A discussion about how DDI can help new people get into the game is an interesting one. (You...
