    D&D 5E (2014) I'm incapacitated, but I can move just fine.

As it should be... What the heck turns you into a Potted Plant? I believes this also drops your speed to 0. At least you can go site-seeing. Woot! Makes sense to me, being in a great deal of pain doesn't mean you can't shamble on over the villain. Rollin' rollin' rollin'...

    D&D 5E (2014) I'm incapacitated, but I can move just fine.

The incapacitated condition likely exists for the sole purpose of being added to other conditions or being one of many conditions a spell or other ability imposes. Why use incapacitated when you could just say "and can't take actions or retains?" Likely because there may be times when you want...

    D&D 5E (2014) Battlemats?

So far, I've been using battlemats when I DM. I prefer them.

    D&D 5E (2014) CR for NPCs

That's not quite true. AC is often derived from armor. Though you can just assign an AC value and call it "natural armor" if you want. Example: Lizardfolk. (This was true in 3e too, at least if you were creating a whole new creature.) Damage, per attack, is derived from the spell use or the...

    D&D 5E (2014) CR for NPCs

If I understand your question, then the answer is not yet. Right now, stating out an NPC or monster with PHB rules seems inadvisable. I suspect the DMG with have some guidance on NPC creation, including what kind of challenge a fully stated out NPC using PHB rules is. Alternatively, they...

    D&D 5E (2014) Hoard of the Dragon Queen - a solid D effort.

While agree with everything that you said in this post, I stand by my first response. The first three episodes of HotDQ are just as useable in encounters as the last five.

    D&D 5E (2014) Hoard of the Dragon Queen - a solid D effort.

That is explicitly contradicted by the text of the downloadable encounter's version. First, on page two, it tells you that if you run the game for two hours a week, every week, you will likely finish the first three episodes before the end of the season. Second, after the end of episode three...

D&D 5E (2014) I dont see anywhere to award renown points in HotDQ

Good question. Sorry I forgot to address that. Anyways, the downloadable Encounters version says, on page 4, that "[e]ach episode in Hoard of the Dragon Queen awards 1 renown point in a character's faction." I didn't see anything in the print version about renown. Also, the supplement and...

D&D 5E (2014) Please Put Spell Blocks in all Modules

So, I ran some Acolytes in a 5e homebrew I ran last week. They have spells. Looking-up the spell I want to cast in my PHB actually wasn't a problem. The spells are fairly clear and they only had a few spells relevant to a combat encounter, it was easy to pick one. We'll see how I feel about...

D&D 5E (2014) Difference between critical hits and automatic hits.

If it helps, the 3rd level PC is only going to hit Orcus once, (well, maybe twice with Action Surge...) then Orcus gets a turn and it's all over the Peter Champion. Bounded accuracy means that you have a shot at hitting, it doesn't guarantee that the amount of damage a PC does is significant to...

D&D 5E (2014) Please Put Spell Blocks in all Modules

I am genuinely curious what the 1d20+0 in your example means.

You award renown at the end of each episode.

D&D 5E (2014) So, I have been out of town for a few weeks, did I miss something?

Gap between OD&D and 1st Edition AD&D: 3 years (1974-1977) We probably don't want to talk about the different editions of Basic.

    D&D 5E (2014) Where are the PDFs?

Agreed. However, I hate PDFs for RPG books.

[Adventurer's League] Not making it easy to find DMs

It does. You are statistically unlikely to kill him, but in the event you do, someone takes his place in episode three. Fairly straight forward. Anyone concerned about railroading or it being to liner should look at episodes two and four. It doesn't get more sandboxy in a published adventure...

D&D 5E (2014) Hoard of the Dragon Queen: As it Turns out, it's Pretty Good (so far)

I have a few small concerns about the adventure myself. But I agree that it opens up quite well. Episodes 2 and 4 are quite well put together.

D&D 5E (2014) How do the classes change a small town on a day to day basis

Mending is useful. Light and Dancing Lights have the potential to extend the work day. We take that for granted now, but getting more time to do stuff is really useful. Crest or Destroy water is only 1st level, though Creat Food and Water is 3rd level.

    "Bargaining" with players?

I'm only familiar of this from actual play, not from any kind of codification of the behavior like what you might read about in a Robin Laws book. I think it's just one of those things people experience.

D&D 5E (2014) Beware the barbarian in the chainmail bikini! Or, check out the max Barbarian AC!

Good point. I was thinking that, before the level 20 bump, you're not going to be able to have 20s in all the physical stats. Thus giving the barbarian 20 STR, 24 DEX, and 24 CON. Personally, I'd give stat bumping to STR, then CON and lastly DEX. Man, talk about multiple ability score...

D&D 5E (2014) Beware the barbarian in the chainmail bikini! Or, check out the max Barbarian AC!

Barbarians only get 10 points of ability score improvements. I don't think it's mathematically possible to bump STR, DEX, and CON to 20 by 20th level if you use point buy or the standard array.
