FAQ answer about Call Spirit Companion

    Perfect reference. Thanks!

    Grant conjurations cover?

How do we know "conjurations (which can attack, and which occupy space) are not enemies"?

    Grant conjurations cover?

This seems to be a bit of circular reasoning. Could you explain why a conjuration (which occupies a square) is not "a legitimate obstacle"?

Whats Errated that was Rogue Useful :)

That's......obtuse. :erm: Well then, quickly switch PCs to become a Warlock....'cuz they make *much* better sneaky types than rogues, if you ignore errata.

FAQ answer about Call Spirit Companion

Huh. "...a noncreature doesn’t provoke opportunity attacks." That's not what the rules say. The RAW says "enemies" provoke opportunity attacks. So a conjuration isn't an enemy?

Will WotC ever get it right?

Agreed. As another - but Herioc Tier - example: The power Predator’s Flurry (Druid Attack 3) is very similar to Feast of Fury (Druid Attack 7)....in fact, I'd argue that the 3rd level power is (practically always) better than the 7th level. Why bother taking a 7th level power, when you can...

    Help Build a Party

Why? I just played a one-shot last night with a dwarf guardian druid 8...and he filled his role well. (The PC was focused on melee and close powers, and synergized well with our warden.)

    Clarification of Inspiring Word

Healing surge plus the 1d6 hps. After all the text says: "Effect: The target can spend a healing surge and regain an additional 1d6 hit points." Note the "and"....not "instead".

Free Keep on the Shadowfell at Wizards.com

A free pdf - for WotC - of KotS is cool! I own the paper copy (with bad ink, remember?). Having a pdf is a good thing. I'll look through it this evening.

Will WotC ever get it right?

Agreed. (Just let the troll be, Obryn. Don't poke it with a stick!) The existence of large amounts of (paper-based) printed material does make them really cautious in posting errata/updates, however. If this were a pdf game, it would be a trivial matter to update material. As it is...

    D&D 3.x 4e combat length compared to 3.5

Heroic teir fights in 4e take all three of the groups I participate in about 8 rounds. In two of the groups we track rounds fairly closely, so I'm pretty confident in that estimate. In 3.xe, fights lasted 3 to 5 rounds, with maybe 7 rounds at most. In terms of "combat rounds", 3.xe was...

    Gaping "Ready Action" hole

[EDIT]Huh. Readied actions are immediate reactions. Interesting. I hear ya.

    Sorcerers too powerful?

FWIW: Warlocks do have a design issue -- but it's not their role. They play fine as a Strriker/Controller, IME. The design issue is their Primary/Secondary ability score structure. They're a "V" class; and we all now know that "A" design classes are best. Poor Warlocks (and Pallys, and...

    Sorcerers too powerful?

#1) Picking a race that gives you high Primary/Secondary stats is already strongly encouraged in 4e. No big news there. (Wanna be a guardian Druid? Be a dwarf. Predator Druid? Switch to Elf.) #2) Other PC options are similarly hurt if you don't put a high stat in the AC ability score...

    Gaping "Ready Action" hole

No: you just completed your turn. You didn't get another. The Readied Action is part of your current turn, not part of your next one. You don't "borrow" actions from your next turn to ready an action.

    Gaping "Ready Action" hole

E has no turn in round 2, as his turn in the initiative doesn't come up in round 2. His readied action is from his round 1 turn.

Unhappy Pally - Righteous Rage + Vicious Weapon

IMO, that's pretty thin gruel you're doling out. Other classes get much more for their class features. Poor pally! YMMV.

Unhappy Pally - Righteous Rage + Vicious Weapon

True! Sure. Personally, I think Pallys should be Str, Wis, Chr though. Wis makes sense....although, and Stalker0 points out, that's hardly a limitation now-a-days. ;) To stick with (PH 2) design principles, a Paladin should have an "A" structure, with a few general abilities, and a few...

Basic (?) Help with Hazards (PoS spoiler?)

The more I think about it, the more I think that the intended way do deal with this is per square. Each square gets its own OA, since each square of Treacherous Ice is a separate trap. Sucks!

Basic (?) Help with Hazards (PoS spoiler?)

That *is* an interesting one, isn't it? The fact that it's a OA is the clincher, I think. Only one attack per creature's turn. The Trigger just "clarifies" what provokes the OA. ......unless...... ...unless you treat each square as a separate trap, and thus each square has its own OA. :]
