    Warlord: STR-primary, not so much...

"Could" Hmmmm. Sure, I suppose. But lots of powers are pretty gimped when you miss. Hitting is better. Really. For example, my taclord has inspiring strike. Sure, if I miss my ally still gets to make a save......but I'd far rather damage the opponent and allow an extra save. In the PH...

    Warlord - punished for sacraficing

Ah, but monsters use different rules than the PCs, right? ;) It's only fair...... :\

Implement Vs. AC = No No, correct?

Your players know, I trust? :) For the first THREE sessions of one of the games I play in, the cleric kept thinking that using Healing Word was a Standard Action. To be honest, it took the rest of us a while to catch on that he was making that mistake. Oh well.

Implement Vs. AC = No No, correct?

Wow. There is a lot going on with each of those powers. Too complicated, IMO.

    Errr.....Healing Word? Sounds useful..... :)

How Important/Feasible is 3 good NADs?

FWIW, one of my DMs specificly requested (but not demanded) that I lower my PC's defences so that my PC was more in-line with other PCs. And (since 4e is more of a team game than 3e) I did so. YMMV.

    Warlord - punished for sacraficing

Wow. Who'da thunk. I find this hate for the warlord and readyed actions veeeery interesting! ....Especially in light of the first several pages of this very thread. Are all the other people-who-said-Warlords-are-punished listening? Facinating.

D&D 4E D&D 4E and psychology: Hit chance too low?

Spatula, that's my recollection of it too....but it's been quite a while since I played with the Basic Set. I also remember the open "skepticism" the rest of us had of the guy that rolled an 18/00 strength. 18/00 Str was later, wasn't it? AD&D? Hmmmmm.....where's that wiki.....

    Warlord - punished for sacraficing

FWIW, I "get" what you're saying. WotC learned something about the leader role, and changed the 4e cleric because of that. But can we turn the original question around a bit? "If you don't want to play a support character, what classes should you play?" It's a valid question. And I know...

    Warlord - punished for sacraficing

Huh. I find the use of Readied Actions to be completely an exercise in tactics. Their use is when you anticipate an action, and plan your action around it. How is this bad? Some players are good at tactics. Those same players tend to be good with readied actions. Using the "DM Rule Hammer"...

D&D 4E How to build encounters in 4e (aka Only you can prevent Grindspace!)

Hrrmmmm. Just so this is out there: I'm a player who likes being awarded XP at the end of each session. It shows my PC has done something, and underlines how well my PC has done it. It also allows me as a player to anticipate when my PC will "level", rather than relying on the DM to...

    Warlord - punished for sacraficing

...shows what I know. <reads thru fighter powers> Huh. I see the fighter's no-AC powers are even more suck-tastic than the Warlord's. How 'bout Martial Powers? I know, when sitting in the Warlord chair, that I'm envious of the strikers and wizard and cleric being able to mix it up a bit. As...

    Are Monster templates necessary?

1974, right? I admit, I came in with the newer edition of Basic D&D.

D&D 4E How to build encounters in 4e (aka Only you can prevent Grindspace!)

The hint to me (the player) to just charge in: the passageway outside the room wasn't "drawn in" on the gaming table map. Only the encounter room existed. That's the DMs way of saying "just get in the room and start the encounter already!" :D

Huh. I've never seen this acronym. Where else have you seen it?

    Warlord - punished for sacraficing

True enough. The non-AC powers are so poor, I'd forgotten them. Lemme list them here: At-wills in the Players Handbook:Furious Smash Encounters/Dailies in the Players Handbook Hammer and Anvil (Atk 1; Str vs. Ref) Villian's Nightmare (Daily 5; Str vs. Ref) Beat Them into the Ground (Atk 13...

Cleric also gets to target something besides AC -- whereas the Warlord always targets AC. (sigh)

Boy do I hope we don't run into a Black Dragon. They sound like they're all kinds of annoying.

    Warlord - punished for sacraficing

Good point! Now that I think about it, the roles of both Leader and Defender are - by definition - "self-sacrificing" roles. ...and I play a PC of each. Huh.
