D&D General Developing a Homebrew Pantheon: Another word for "Saint?"

Assuming the actual action of the Gods is required: "Chosen", and for certain ones maybe, "Consort" (e.g. Elminster and Mystra). Also a fan of "Ascended". I'd probably restrict to "Paragons" to the same set as I would "Exemplars". E.g. The Paragon Robilar, the First Warrior. Also like "Numen"...

D&D General House Rules ideas - Ability Score vs Modifier

The big problem you'd run into is that the high value modifiers would really start to dominate the rolls. And avoiding that was one of the primary design goals for 5e. Also your stat modifiers would drown out every other kind of bonus/penalty. If you do this I'd strongly suggest rolled stats...

    Peregrine's Nest: Before Their Time

Continuum: Time Travel as the basis of an RPG. Fortune's Fool: a card (tarot) based resolution system, set in the Europe of the Fairy Tails (Snow White's Bavaria, Pinnochio's Italy, etc.) Tribe 8: Post-invasion apocalypse.

RPG Evolution: Hike Like a Hero

    @Dioltach (Skipping a bit...) Those responsible for the credits have just been sacked. {Grognard hat on}Kids these days don't recognize a Monthy Python and the Holy Grail reference.... Get off my dice!{/Grognard}

D&D General Not the Wicked Witch: Revisiting the Legacy of Lorraine Williams

@Mannahnin Something to that you might have missed - Dancey was doing the audit in the late 90's (Late 2nd Ed). So all that product from the late 80's? That was for (most likely) 1st Ed. Which was out of print and no longer supported by TSR. So it's value to a distributor (i.e. for end sale...

Graphic Design Layout Artists: The Reason TTRPGs Look Great

And, my point is that for PF2e, you do. Other games require different levels of content, but it's going to be hard to hard to boil down a system like any of the primary-path D&D descendants to just a 2 page description. Now I know of other systems, like Rolemaster, which <b>can</b> have their...

Graphic Design Layout Artists: The Reason TTRPGs Look Great

Eh. As an example, let's look at the PF2e class descriptions; each generally provides 3-4 subclasses and roughly 40 feats spread over 20 levels. With the notable exception that they really should have extracted the common rules (especially the things like feat progressions) out from their class...

Graphic Design Layout Artists: The Reason TTRPGs Look Great

Only if what you need to convey fits in that space. ;) It's a good goal, but not always achievable. Now keeping all the info you need as closely together as possible is even better. I really wish that in these days of PDFs that more people used its internal cross-linking ability.

Graphic Design Layout Artists: The Reason TTRPGs Look Great

I must admit I can't get to the layout past the color scheme and art style. I doubt I would've 20-30 years ago either. In fact, rulebooks like text books, should be, IMO, clear beyond all else. @iirg provides better layout examples. The stuff used in the Laser and Vast Grimm examples are better...

    Looking for D&D-like alternatives to D&D 5e

If you're talking inspiration/hero points, I understand. I haven't been able to get my players involved in the ebb-and-flow of this, and it makes it really fail. What I've done is transform it to a permanent "bennie" - aka "soul coin". The lowest level is just the Hero Point made permanent. And...

    Looking for advice

Well, there's the "Blessed Notetaker". Those often summarize and post off-session. There are also a number of "Session Storyteller" players (which greatly overlap with the Blessed Notetaker). Occassionally, you get the "Grand Strategist" or "Optimizer Helper" who tries to reduce the session time...

    Looking for advice

More jumping on the bandwagon. 1) You've implied/I've inferred, that this is the first group you've played in with L and your boyfriend. And its also your first Pathfinder game. (I'm assuming its Pathfinder 2e, the current version.) Those can both be causes for dramatic changes in behavior...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5 High Level Adventures For Your D&D Game!

It was. 1e, OdnD, BX, and BECMI all had this built in. 2e and later haven't really.

    Reinventing the Wheel

It's been said a couple of times already - most people (even RPG designers) don't have the money or time to cast their net wide for elements. In doesn't help matters that there are a LOT of games. Even if 80% of them are just Fantasy Heartbreakers, the remaining 20% are still nigh overwhelming...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5 High Level Adventures For Your D&D Game!

And as I said, the market research backs you up. I'm just disappointed. I'm also disappointed that apparently, the average campaign length is 6 months. (Which explains the stop at10th, but still disappointing.)

    D&D 5E (2014) 5 High Level Adventures For Your D&D Game!

Eh. For me, the spell levels/ranks/powers are mostly the determining answer. Low; Tier1; 1-4; First or Second Level Spells Mid; Tier 2; 5-10; Third to Fifth Advanced; Tier 3; 10-14; Fifth to Seventh High; Tier 4; 15-20; Seventh to Ninth (Tenth) Epic; Epic; 20+ A high-level adventure should...

    Pathfinder 2E So, pre-Revised books...

Yeah, those might be problematic. They were designed far enough ahead of things that I doubt that remastering really addressed them, and as far as I know, they haven't gotten a lot of support/use outside of the Dark Archives. OTOH, Psychic, at least, doesn't seem to have any of the more...

    Pathfinder 2E So, pre-Revised books...

Back to the OP... Howl of the Wild is mid-remastering so will slot right in. However, it's implied setting is a little strange, compared to the rest of Golarion, and the "frame" of the book feels very contrived. Also, if you aren't running a campaign with a lot of wilderness adventuring, I'm...

    D&D 5E (2024) The 10 Species in "Your Ideal 2024 PHB"

There's still an ungodly amount of them. And they are just a balanced as ever. It's just that they're now all on DM's Guild.
