    D&D 5E (2014) 5 High Level Adventures For Your D&D Game!

Sigh. I know what the market research says ("Campaigns end around 10th to 12th level"), so these qualify by that metric. But only one touches the beginnings of what I'd consider high-level. Though points for making the Kobold themed adventure 9th to 10th.

    D&D 5E (2024) The 10 Species in "Your Ideal 2024 PHB"

{Looks askance} You just put the Halflings in there so the Kaiju would have something to step on, didn't you? 😏

    D&D 5E (2024) The 10 Species in "Your Ideal 2024 PHB"

5 humanoid-only species. 1. Humans (default/baseline; also Medium, no swapping) 2. Dwarves (Medium/short, wide) 3. Elves (Medium/tall, skinny) 4. Halflings (hobbits, not kender. Small Race) 5. Ogres (a little smarter and slenderer than depicted as a Monster; Large Race) 5 humanoid-mix species...

Does Your Campaign Have a BBEG? Does it Need One?

If answer to the original post: Yes, this campaign has a BBEG, and the players know of it, though its exact nature is unknown to them. And since my previous campaign was Horde of Tyranny, the answers for that one would be yes as well. As for whether they are necessary. {wibble-wobble with the...

D&D General A Gnome and a Halfling have a Baby. What is it?

Imaginary, as none of the Ancestries can interbreed in my world.

D&D General Maps, Maps, Maps! Dungeons, Ruins, Caverns, Temples, and more... aka Where Dyson Dumps His Maps.

Whoops. My bad. It's Iseldec's Drop, not Iselac's. Here's the link to the first 4 levels.

D&D General Maps, Maps, Maps! Dungeons, Ruins, Caverns, Temples, and more... aka Where Dyson Dumps His Maps.

Check Brezchyn’s Halls, a partial underdark expansion of Iselac's Drop. Also, though it isn't portrayed as very far underground, it wouldn't take a whole lot of imagining to make Scavenger's Deep an Underdrak site. (@Dyson Logos : Sorry for putting words in your mouth. Both are EXCELLENT maps...

D&D General What would be a good published setting to use for a dead/dying world that has been taken over by Tharizdun?

I believe there's a published version of The Dying Earth as a setting. Or Gamma World, with a little light editing to insert Nudizrath. If you're willing to adapt from other games, Earthdawn's setting might match what you need. Or the Numenera setting.

D&D General The Greyhawk Pantheon: How Greyhawk Approaches Deities (& Demigods)

Snarf, what's your problem with Nudizrath, anyway? It's not like the thing's obsessive, and it's aim isn't the best. Besides you didn't start entertaining adventurers thinking it was a safe job, did you?:D

Running games for pay as another income stream for TTRPG companies

Fixed that for you. Now, if it was Monte Cook, Jonathon Tweet, or another game designer I respect?

    RPG "Dating Apps" For LFG

Can anyone speak to it? Also, does anyone have any other good leads on non-DnD/Pathfinder matchups (other than r/lfgmisc)?

User Name and Avatars: Origin Stories

Like so many, my username comes from some old characters. In my case, from a pair of Hunters I played on the old Hunter Mailing list back during the late 90's: Guardian256, and Lurker225 (a Defender and a Witness). The avatar is the logo/decal on my favorite gamer t-shirt. It's a little hard...

I've been gaming for thirty years. Maybe it's time to hang it up. OR On Simulations and Storytellers.

You have a very idiosyncratic definition of heroism there. From Merriam-Webster: heroism which defines itself using heroic which in turn refers to the root term hero Now leaving aside the definitions that depend on mythological and legendary figures/warriors, we are left with: HERO: a person...

D&D Historian Benn Riggs On Gary Gygax & Sexism

Heh. For real fun - is a defamatory audio recording libel? Or slander? Does it matter if it's published (by a podcast, for instance)?

D&D Historian Benn Riggs On Gary Gygax & Sexism

Eh. Fair enough. But I'm aware of a lot worse. Both then, and now. Misanthropy, in all its flavors, is unfortunately timeless.

D&D Historian Benn Riggs On Gary Gygax & Sexism

So, EGG So, EGG most likely wasn't an extreme example of sexist man FOR THAT PERIOD, and probably wouldn't have been tagged with the label by many people DURING THAT PERIOD. By today's standards, hoo boy. But not back then. The men who did get tagged as sexist back then would be...

I've been gaming for thirty years. Maybe it's time to hang it up. OR On Simulations and Storytellers.

I think many "Forever GMs" have a "Crisis of Faith" at one point or another. I know I have. Two, in fact. A Major one in my early 30s, and a minor one more recently. Obviously, I recovered and continue GMing. So first, yes, do take a break, recharge, but allow yourself to come back.Play some...

    D&D 5E (2014) Magic Resistance Alternatives

IIRC, Advantage is supposed to work out as roughly equivalent to a +4 to the die roll (saves, in this case). It doesn't stop the saves, but at least it's a simple one. If you're looking to avoid rolling saves entirely, I believe 5e uses a 50% save mark for equivalent CR combat opponents. This...

D&D General the elemental planes are trash

Now, back to the original topic. I grew up with 1e. For me, the elemental planes are intended to be the Platonic Elements - that is the first western conceptions of what made up the world (and the things inside). This is also the source behind the medieval medicinal concept of Humors. Too much...
