When, How and What Do You Play?

I'm envious of you all. I run 1 PF2E game, twice monthly, over Fantasy Grounds. I miss my in-person games; but with 2 of my six players more than 3 hours drive away, and 2 more with ailing spouses, it is not going to happen.

    Eat The Monsters--Literally--With Gummyquest

No. But vanilla icing, as well as various glazes are readily available. You do have to be careful though - if the glaze is too hot it melts the gummi.

    Eat The Monsters--Literally--With Gummyquest

My real question: molds? Or just the pieces? In short, can I play more than one game with a particular monster?

Best D20 Space Games (not fantasy)

I'm sorry you paid so close to its cover price. Honestly, take the personal gear and the character options, and throw away the rest. For everything else, find a setting you like and just use that.

Best D20 Space Games (not fantasy)

D20 Modern is a different beast. It also doesn't interface well with DnD, but it is reasonably well thought out and complete. I cannot say the same for d20 Future.

Best D20 Space Games (not fantasy)

Then your GM did a GREAT job of working around the system's limitations. After GMing a mixed D&D/d20 Future game, I swore I'd never do that again - Dragonspace is a much better mechanical fit. It's also a straight-up D&D-in-space, which is why I didn't mention it earlier. d20 Future also had a...

Best D20 Space Games (not fantasy)

Did you ever play or GM a d20 Future game (assuming you mean the 3.x derivation)? If you're looking for straight-up Sci-Fi d20 games, from the 3.x era there are a few. Traveller d20, and Fading Suns d20 aren't bad ports of the original settings/systems, though I think the originals are better...

Geek Confessional Thread 2024 [NOW 2025!]

I've never seen any of the Aliens franchise; and have no interest in them. (And yet I know the plots, twists, and meme-worthy scenes just from exposure). Ditto Futurama and the Simpsons. I haven't watched any of Stranger Things. Or any of the SW TV shows (animated or live-action). I'll never...

D&D General Druid vs. Paladin - March Madness 2024 - Final Round!

Thank you for doing it. I certainly didn't expect to win. BTW, for those of you that are curious as to what my answers might be to the "Name 3 Paladins" question... Comics/Marvel: Captain America, Spider-man,X-Men's Beast Comics/DC: Superman, Captain Marvel, Hal Jordan or John Stewart...

D&D General Which type of True Neutral are you?

I remember these discussions from back in the day. Gygax even chimed in once in one of his dragon columns if I recall correctly. Monte Cook's Book of Hallowed Might has a great discussion about it. The "True Balance" Neutral is one option - it was the stance of the 1e druids, officially. And...

D&D General March Madness (D&D Classes) 2024 - Scores and Discussion

Well, that's because you recognize that Paladin is the superior choice. Paladins are on the side of the Angels, after all. Druids are on the side of Nypmhs. {aside}What do you mean the nymphs throw better parties? That's not important here!{/aside} Ahem. Clearly superior in all ways. Go Paladins!

D&D General What are good secret code decorations or tchotchkes to signal you are a gamer to other gamers in non-gamer environments

Eh. I'd suggest my avatar; it's from a T-Shirt by off-world designs. It just looks like a stained glass window at first glance. But to anyone who pays attention, the d20 is obvious, and then you realize the other polyhedra are surrounding it.

D&D General Brainstorming for Expanding a Dwarven Astral Colony

So the Astral Plane is supposed to be (among other things) the plane of thought-forms and reified concepts. Maybe the goblet grew so large because it is the ur-goblet, the platonic form of all goblets. If so, it could serve as a scrying component/target for any goblet in the multiverse, or a...

    D&D 5E (2014) Targeting Their Attunement

The only real problem I can see is if your more powerful monsters have a "requires magic to damage" flag set; then things get really nasty, as every attack is a sacrificial one. Also, to counterbalance the table-flipping, you might want to provide "Ancient Magics" item versions of their gear -...

Do you have a default TTRPG gaming mode?

I default to "Trad" style. Not surprising, my first DnD game was New Years 1980-81. My bigger problem, and I suspect one that more people/gamers share, is that finding games in other styles/systems-other-than-DnD is hard, to nigh impossible. I suspect the ones that run into "mode collisions"...

D&D General Druid vs. Paladin - March Madness 2024 - Final Round!

Fair enough. Having played a 3.5 Artificer under a lenient, power-gamer GM, I can tell you that even with the brakes off, it takes careful preparation to get anywhere close to 100% coverage. (And boy did my character eat up gold.) So I'm familiar with the trade-offs for problem solving. For a...

D&D General Druid vs. Paladin - March Madness 2024 - Final Round!

Hmmm... unless you have a single character using both arcane and divine magic, and you explictly want them to be able to have differing bonuses with their two differing types of magic, I'm not sure this gets you much, or even enough to be worth the extra-complexity. It also implies that if you...

D&D 5E (2014) GM: Who Do You Target? [READ OP BEFORE VOTING]

Your scenario places the BBEG is "One Hit Dead" territory. Since it's the BBEG's initiative it gets the HELL OUT OF THERE. Option 2, if it can't flee: AoE attack. It has one right? One that can be used multiple times? Option 3, if it can't flee, and has no AoE: Target the ranged attackers...

D&D General Druid vs. Paladin - March Madness 2024 - Final Round!

"Faith Bonus"? The other three have obvious mappings. Is "Faith Bonus" the saves bonus? Also, re: the combat self-sufficiency design: Yes-ish and No-ish. You don't want a class that doesn't need anyone-else, that can do everything. On the other hand when your class can't contribute meaningfully...

D&D General Druid vs. Paladin - March Madness 2024 - Final Round!

A great deal of truth in that. However, Wizards are also "solution man" - or should be. While I've never met a wizard player (and character) that didn't enjoy their evocation spells ("Spell go BOOM!"), where they really shine (or should) is in their ability to solve problems ("Hold on. I've got...
