I have checked out alot of the games on Itch. Some are games, but some are just like social exercises I get at annoying Education Development conferences.

You're also saying that D&D 2025 is innovative. How can you think that is innovative and 5e was not. For me I love that 5e went back to the earlier design sensibilities. 5.5 though didn't really do anything modern except make photorealistic art. I don't see the improvement in 5.5 except for...

Exodus is going to be fantastic at least because the original Mass Effect Developers are behind the Exodus Video game. I'm looking forward to Exodus the Video Games and hopefully they pull off this TTRPG. If its good, it could shake me from Traveller for awhile. The only sci fi game able to...

The three 2025 Books? Other than the Layout and lessons in the DM Guide I don't see any innovation, I see change for change sake and maybe chasing a different audience. Bastions is an innovation. MCDM did it better years ago. Theres nothing innovative about it. The Pathfinder Campaign Guide...

In this case with WOTC the OP point stands. The designers are limited by corporate.

I never distinguished it or thought about it really. I just see it as an analogy. I'm not easily offended though, by things like this. For me personally it's not a big deal.

OK my brother is a federal Firefighter on an army base. All of the guys make a reference to "Rats fleeing the ship," because there is a huge amount of military retirments right now. The NAVY guys are ALL referring to this for obvious reasons. I'm a teacher. Education sucks right now. At...

It's also that the execs do not understand the hobby. The Hasbro not WOTC execs thought project Sigil was a video game like Baldurs Gate. Let's thing about Sigil for a moment. It was going to require some serious specs. Not only does every one of your players need a copy they need a machine...

That is NOW. Before Stranger Things not a chance. But that's neither here nor there because budgets aren't concerned what product the money comes from. Strategic planning is concerned. And when WOTC was bought Hasbro execs even before 4e considered D&D not valuable. If not for VTT speculation...

Oh no no no. I read every quarterly report before D&D got big. D&D wasn't even worth mentioning. In fact if 5e had the reception of 4e I assure you WOTC would be MtG and no D&D besides a board game. WOTC Magic money kept WOTC in business. D&D was a negligible comparison. And now, execs are...

Yeah man. Heroforge is free. Lots of users use it for free. But then they release kitbashing which is awesome. You need to subscribe for that really good feature. Many users are mad that's not a free feature because it's so convenient. Well yeah. You still have full functionality as provided...

I mean I get it. This is though a very common metaphor used in daily and professional parlance. If i tell you to "go jump in a lake" it's not because I think you need to get wet.

We take it for granted. I know video gamers mostly on console that had no idea this was D&D. That shouldn't be surprising. We tune into what we/know like

It depends on your hobby group. I was introduced to BG3 through WOTC efforts. I saw the adverts for Video Game side BG3 and the D&D was not stressed. It was there as a notation. If you weren't in tune to ttrpg it's likely you'd miss all reference to D&D.

We're no longer in nearly the same environment as we were before Covid, and the variables have completely changed even from 3 months ago. Nothing was that much different with even development up to D&D 2024. Now we have more efficient AI being greatly encouraged among business leaders and a...
