Its a game effect forcing a player to do something they don't want their character to do. Within the context of the game it really isnt different. Its a mechanical expression of control.

I disagree with this. I'm a very empathic person in fact my real life job relies on it. If someone has an issue with one aspect of the game, the group should not feature that. I have no problem with consent and protection during the game. I really don't have a problem reworking love either...

I disagree. If something bothers someone within the game it's up to the group to deal with it. Disease really bothers me, I'm not going to campaign WOTC to remove it from the game because the fact it bothers me is MY problem and no one else's.

I play with people that have seen people killed in front of them. It was a very real reality for them. So don't be so quick to dismiss his point.

What about combat veterans? I play with people that literally have seen dismemberment. I mean you're not being any better by preaching to his point this way because he might have honed in on the part you care about. Disease is very real. Yet we feature disease in all kinds of D&D adventures...

That's fair enough. I'm sure there are groups that are opposed to disease effects and such as well. I just notice that the Charm effects seem to come under scrutiny much more. I don't particularly enjoy disease mechanics. ITs my least favorite thing in D&D, but I certainly wouldn't ask...

They should release it as an option at least. There are going to be those that don't like it, but as we always do, if there are things you don't like you ignore it and move on.

I have been adapting the old Letter series modules to Forgotten Realms for decades. A1-A4 I made a Kraken Society operation. I get the feeling you like the realms, and the Saltmarsh book is fantastic. Its easy to place. I chose to place it on the Moonshae Isles.
