    3.5 better for world building?

I don't see how that has any relation to world building. I don't see how daze being a cantrip in 3e relates to world building, or the fact that rangers get spells at level 4 vs level 6 affects building cities, religions etc. My point is that worldbuilding is mostly independent of those factors.

    3.5 better for world building?

The 4e DMG covers that same list of stuff. Moreover, if I'm building my own world, I'm going to be varying from the default world, so those base assumptions are irrelevant. You could try not being an ass.

    3.5 better for world building?

How does that affect world building? A few hits to drop to dying in either system at level 1. Moreover, what does that have to do with your list of stuff from above?

4e/WotC: Pro- or Anti- why do you care?

The shooting war is over, but the edition wars at this point is really a cold war, so lots of vehement speeches by self-appointed representative, battles by proxy involving other RPGs, and occasional escalations with the main power.

    3.5 better for world building?

I'm totally not following this. To the extent that numbers mean something in 3e, they basically mean the same thing in 4e. Skills like jump/athletics have pretty much the same meanings in both editions. Beyond that though, I don't see anything linking 3e the rules system with building cities...

    3.5 better for world building?

Yeah, this is why I don't fully grok this topic. I see all of that relatively orthogonal to the rules of either 3e or 4e. At worst, NPCs kinda overlap. I can come up with terrain, climate and weather, cities, towns, technology, politics, law, religion, etc and its all fairly rules independent.

    Discussion on iterative attacks

Compared to a druid taking his turn, I didn't ever really dislike iterative attacks. That said, they often felt like there was too much dice rolling for little effect. I personally would have preferred a method that simplified the dice rolling into fewer rolls with each rolling being more...

    Do you like character building?

I really want the building process to take about 10% of the time I spend playing the character. So if I play for 3-4 hours a week, then spending an hour on character updating/maintenance every 3 weeks doesn't bother me. Much more than that would annoy me, though.

    Ravenloft Boardgame?

All the interviews claim that it's the same plastic as the regular DDM line.

Hackmaster won an ORIGINS award in 2001

Just so I'm clear, we're nerd raging about a decade old comment about who won a particular award?

    Ravenloft Boardgame?

Because the strahd mini is stupidly oversized?

    Ravenloft Boardgame?

In the unboxing done by mearls here, he says that the colors correspond to various difficulties of the monsters. Since he takes all the minis out, it also shows just how much comes in the box.

Going back in time to play your novice days again

I think my knowledge of game mechanics would greatly increase my enjoyment of the game. Knowing that the 3e monk was well below the power curve while the druid was way above would have helped when I created my first character. That said, having no idea what mind flayers, carrion crawlers, etc...

    Ravenloft Boardgame?

That's part of what has me so excited about this game. The longest play time I've heard is 1.5 hours with no rules pre-knowledge. For a dungeon crawl, that's very very good. It means you can expect to run this in a game night without having to give up other games.

    Ravenloft Boardgame?

IIRC, the 17th. Though my amazon pre-order ships on the 23rd. edit: boardgamegeek is saying end of the month.

    D&D Comic hits stores today!

I suspect that's my big problem. The two comic book series I've read in any detail were Watchmen and Preacher. I've read a few fan service ones like the Firefly or Babylon 5 spinoffs, but those are immemorable enough that I really don't recall much about them. But really I think I'm probably...

    D&D Comic hits stores today!

For a buck, it was ok. It felt a bit cliched, though with the short page count, I'd guess I'd have to.

    Ravenloft Boardgame?

FWIW, this hasn't really struck me as a very Ravenloft the campaign setting sort of work and much more of an I6 Ravenloft the module sort of thing. IE, its a castle, with a vampire at its center, and not a realm of dread and despair.

Save or Die: Yea or Nay?

FWIW, even though I'm so against SoD (or other variants of save or sit out the next few hours) that I'll walk out of the game never to return, I have no problem with dying in general. If the dice turn against me, the dice have turned against me. If my strategy is wrong, I deserve the beating.
