D&D 5E (2024) Disintegrate Reverted to Old Wording

yes it said you were disentigrated if you went to 0 hp. while that my conflict with the new death save mechanic it was quite clear. you become a pile of ashes. even back then. Nothing I've ever read about death saves made me think they were for situations like that. This is simply getting...

D&D 5E (2024) Disintegrate Reverted to Old Wording

seems perfectly clear to me. A high level spell designed to disintegrate things actually disintegrates the character if they go to 0 or below. seems to be a working as originally intended to me. I don't think Death saves were ever intended to save the character from being a pile of dust...

    D&D 5E (2024) Martial/Caster fix.

Since you have to roll with each wish that does anything other than duplicate a spell of 8th level and below and risk a 33 percent chance of never being able to cast wish again probaby not more than once or twice i'd guess.

    D&D 5E (2024) Martial/Caster fix.

So are we going to make all martial attacks require saves to do damage?

    D&D 5E (2024) Martial/Caster fix.

And at any level the martials have unlimited damage potential with very few save or suck abilities. Those blindness, deafness spells are great when they work. Teleport unless the cell is antimagic. It's the same tired argument every time assuming that the magic will work every time when in...

    D&D 5E (2024) Martial/Caster fix.

Why are martials less influenceful. First of all everyone always prefers the big bad buff hero. Second casters are ony overpowered when some retro campaign where the tires old trope of "Magic" southern bell covers her eyes "has all but vanished from the realm" if there are plenty of...

Theater of the Mind and VTTs: Oh Brave New World...

VTT's just seem to take too much work. Though with 3d printers and all the other options to have cool maps etc I understand people wanting cool things. It just seems they tend to take away the magic of the player imagining it better than a 3d print ever could

How important is it to you or your players for characters to feel "overpowered"?

No the problem comes in because most people think general distribution of rolls should be an individual thing but that's not how random works. A player could roll badly for every roll in a campaign and still be a normal part of the randomness of using dice. The statisticl model includes the...

How important is it to you or your players for characters to feel "overpowered"?

my first 1st level character died to a natural 20 crit in the second round of combat. I've also had a higher level character literally stand in the tunnel of the encounter while being mobbed by creatures and miss for 6 full rounds even though he had the best THACO in the group. The dice can...

To be fair. Most games are built around combat and in a world where antihero's are as revered as hero's, you can probably substitute the two interchangeably and the conversations validity holds

Probably. But it's only a problem when not everyone at the table is wanting the same kind of game

Good idea because just the players can mess this up. A few minmaxers can make that roleplayer feel useless every time the dice come out.

How important is it to you or your players for characters to feel "overpowered"?

Stomping enemies every time is boring, nearly losing everytime is boring. But both are fun when you have no Idea whats around the corner. Sometimes things should just go right an easy for the PC's. Not all the time.

How important is it to you or your players for characters to feel "overpowered"?

If you read my other posts. 😄. I said variability is important. Even in say a call of Cthulhu game. Not every goup of cultists should be a death threat. But appropriate level threats should come within that variability. I find even the players that want to be the A-team are usually ok...

How important is it to you or your players for characters to feel "overpowered"?

I think the scene in. GOT where after many seasons of buildup the big bad UBER dragon just gets turned into enemy ice dragon with amost no cost. Far too many DM's treat everythiing their PC's do like that.

For instance I've played in games where all the bad guys where always PC level or above. They never fail morale checks are always so terrifìed of the BBEG that they never give information. The city guard can kill you easily, the thieves guild can kill you easily and 10 levels later nothing...

the person who can do what others can't. The person who defies fate, the people in charge and comes out ahead, not in some zero sum situation where everything is always against you. note this can be achieved at any level in any RPG if the DM is willing to allow it. And definitely not...
