Dragon 372 - Secrets of the City Entombed...Includes Many Necromantic Flavored Powers

If the marked opponent doesn't attack the arrowhawk they get a -2 to hit. Mini-defender summon! I too want to see the summons buffed up a bit. Maybe if the animated dead is destroyed the wizard doesn't take damage like he does with normal summons? Or perhaps give the animated dead some extra...

Dragon 372 - Secrets of the City Entombed...Includes Many Necromantic Flavored Powers

Yeah, my knee-jerk reaction is that the summons aren't too useful. They count as allies though, and with hit points they can take some heat off of the party. Also, you don't have to sustain most of them, so if you have to leave them behind for a round or two it's not as bad as losing flaming...

Dragon 372 - Secrets of the City Entombed...Includes Many Necromantic Flavored Powers

Uhhhh... whoa. That's a lot of crunch to absorb. Avenger? Bard?! OMG! Summon Black Reaper looks a little weak - the standard action attack should probably be 2d8, like the OA. The wizard spells are sweet.

    Swordmage- Assault or Shielding?

Playing a stormsoul genasi assaultmage w/broadsword and I love it. I've been taking every teleportation power I can get my hands on so that I can mark one dude and make my way over to another group and cover two fronts at once. I've got a +1 Vengeance broadsword (Adv. Vault), so when that marked...

digital insider: Monk in PH3, playtest in May

Well, in Dragon we pretty much only get preview material in the Ampersand article. The other previews (sorcerer, invoker, etc.) weren't part of Dragon as far as I can tell, just nice freebies for subscribers. That would put the last full article devoted to preview material at 4 months old...

DDI Subscribers: Are you satisfied with your subscription?

Very satisfied. I'd say that I'm happier with Dragon than I've ever been, but Dungeon has lost something in the transition. Then again, I've no use for pre-written adventures at the moment so it could be that I'm just not giving it a fair shot. With all of the extra content I'm getting beyond...

The New 4th Edition God-Killing Rules

Well, I think that during the war with the primordials the gods would have been weaker - they had fewer followers. Destroying the primordials back then was likely harder than it would be now. Also, if Bane went and unchained Mual-Tar to kill him, who would watch over his realm? Gruumsh would...

Level 3 PCs vs. Level 8 Monster?

This! I thought that was an awesome encounter. Or, instead of grounding the ogre, perhaps the PCs can confront it in an area that favors them? Maybe a tight passage keeps the ogre from chasing them if they need a breather (unless he wants to squeeeeeze), or there might be spot where the PCs can...

Level 3 PCs vs. Level 8 Monster?

Last week my 11th lvl PCs fought 2 solos at once - a lvl 11 white dragon & a lvl 13 blue dragon, both with polychromatic blood (from Draconomicon). They were at the center of a big crater, surrounded by an immense battle between hobgoblins & men. They had the help of a powerful NPC who had...

digital insider: Monk in PH3, playtest in May

I'm overloaded on anticipation. It's great to hear about assassins & monks, but I want that damn PHB2!

Avenger Class Details from NY Comic Con '09

Indeed. WotC's pre-gen even has leather proficiency! The powers we see on the pre-gen don't look damage-heavy. Seems as though they trade away some damage for many controller-esque effects, and that awesome oath of enmity.

    Intelligent Blademaster with Javelin?

I'm actually confused that Herschel thinks my view of the feat is bending the rules. I don't see how my viewpoint isn't 100% supported by the rules, perhaps even straightjacketed by RAW. The intent/spirit of the feat may suggest it apply only to light & heavy blades, but it's written clear as...

    Intelligent Blademaster with Javelin?

You don't need to call someone a name to attack them personally (although you did call me a cheater  ). I won't even go into your issue with "RAW." Not sure what that even means. Are they hanging too low or something? I don't even like cowboys. Tombstone was a sweet movie though.

    Intelligent Blademaster with Javelin?

@ Ryujin: The feat seems laden with intent. It's not called Intelligent Javelinmaster or Intelligent Throwing Hammermaster, after all. Is this actually a rule?

    D&D 4E 4e Constitution - what a waste of time !

I'm not sure where this conversation is going (nor do I have anything to add) but I actually agree with Regi's last post! :heh: That's worth XP.

Gruumsh for PHB2's half-orcs (even though they're not intrinsically linked).

OMG That Must Be A Typo

An insane laundry list of errata! Loved the monsters, hated the mistakes. @ Lojaan: Yeah, I heard the zombie rotter was put down to level 1 in the DDI compendium, but they were reprinted in Open Grave as level 3. I wouldn't run them as anything less than level 1.

    Intelligent Blademaster with Javelin?

No, my point is pretty solid. You're the one bending IMO - I'm following the feat to the letter. Tell me where I'm bending anything. You think it should only apply to melee attacks, when in fact the feat applies to any basic attack. Keep up the personal attacks Herschel. It shows how shaky...
