    More Grappling Questions

If you want to damage an opponent you're grappling with a successful grappling check, you take a -4 penalty to the roll unless you are dealing nonlethal unarmed damage. Now, in the description of the special ability for rake, the text specifically states that monsters with rake do not take the...

Anyone have "Torn Asunder" from Bastion Press yet?

Just hoping to get a reply to this. Nick

    Constrict?

So, constrict just deals an extra helping of damage when you make a grapple check to damage your opponent right? So, if I had a tentacle that did 1d6 damage and I grappled you with it, I'd get to roll the original 1d6 and another 1d6 if I had constrict? Thanks, Nick

Anyone have "Torn Asunder" from Bastion Press yet?

So, you can get a limb hacked off, but not bleed to death? Nick

Why the D20 system has no merits and flaws system ?

I mentioned it above. It really is a good book. The curses and taints rock as well. Nick

    D&D 3.x [3.5] Marilith Writeup

Dang, I missed that. I guess I should have read the whole thing. I wasn't expecting an exception. Btw, hi Nick. Email me when you get back to State College at kirowan@yahoo.com. Nick

    D&D 3.x [3.5] Marilith Writeup

I think the Full Attack entry for the Marilith Demon on page 44 is wrong. Will someone check my work before I send it in as errata? She has a BAB of +16 and a Str bonus of +9. The entry says that if she uses a large longsword in her primary hand she attacks with a bonus of +25/+20/+15/+10...

    Magic Item Question

The scroll actual casts the spell. Goggles of minute seeing don't actually cast true seeing. That's the difference. Nick

Why the D20 system has no merits and flaws system ?

I like the system presented in The Book of Distinctions and Drawbacks. Each flaw yields either a feat or 4 skill points, but you really do pay for them. The flaws are basically split into primary and secondary. The primary flaws are all mechanics based while the secondary flaws are...

Anyone have "Torn Asunder" from Bastion Press yet?

I ordered it the other day and should receive it soon. I'm glad everyone is having such a positive reaction toward it. Hopefully, this means I'll be able to scrap the clumsy system I was working on. There are rules for bleeding wounds right? Nick

    Encounter Distance--am I missing something?

Three cheers for coyote! I checked the SRD before and didn't find it. Thanks a bunch, Nick

    D&D 3.x [3.5] Stacking Bonuses Table

I've read the 3.5 DMG cover to cover and didn't find such a table. Page 21 sums it up nicely though. Dodge bonuses and most circumstance bonuses stack. Inherent bonuses are limited to a +5 max. That's about it. Nick

    Encounter Distance--am I missing something?

I would appreciate if someone could post these as well. I don't have my 3.0 DMG anymore. :( Nick

    D&D 3.x [3.5] Monster Advancement Example

I think I found a number of mistakes in the monster advancement example on page 292 of the 3.5 MM. Could you guys please check it out before I send it in as errata? 1. The otyugh goes from 6 HD to 15 HD. At 6 HD, he has a +4 to hit with his 2 tentacles and a a -2 to hit with his bite when...

    Encounter Distance--am I missing something?

That's what I'm saying Psi. The encounter distances in the 3.5 DMG are found in the different terrain types in Chapter 3. But the other rules for spotting distances are missing. Nick

    Disabled Characters and Standard Actions

I know that when a character has 0 hp, he is disabled and takes a point of damage from performing a standard action. This will send him into negatives and he'll start dying. What about a character who was stabilized and then rolled his percent chance to become disabled while having negative...

    Encounter Distance--am I missing something?

It's not in the 3.5 DMG. I asked the same question not too long ago. I think it's an oversight actually. It's just not WotC's style to go from a very mechanical resolution method to one based mostly on DM fiat. Nick
