Pramas on 4E and New Gamers

I am a decades-long gamer and a DnD fanboy who will be porting over to 4e completely... I am also having great difficulty with classes. The "Great Wall" chapter (an apt name) has been very difficult to get through. This chapter needed to be more simplified. I would have recommended: a separate...

D&D 4E I am confused about 4e Spellcasting. Please help.

A chart in the PH would have been very useful in clearing up this confusion (for me at least). It makes sense the way you all here have explained it.

D&D 4E I am confused about 4e Spellcasting. Please help.

Wow - I did not know that. Wizards are very different from earlier editions. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Thank you all again. :D

D&D 4E I am confused about 4e Spellcasting. Please help.

Thank you all for the replies. I believe I see where I was wrong. Here is my new understanding of my 9th level wizard: - 2 At-Will Powers - I only know 2 at-will powers. This number of at-will powers never changes. These 2 powers are usable during any encounter, at will, any time, no limit...

D&D 4E I am confused about 4e Spellcasting. Please help.

Perhaps it is my aging and aged brain, but I am having a hard time understanding the shift in the game from spells to the various types of spell powers. I will use a 9th level wizard as an example and explain the spellcasting as I understand it. Please correct/advise me of where I am going...

    Pronounciation of Justiciar

While I am a stickler for accurate pronunciation, this alternate pronunciation is the most appealing.

Dragonborn - will you ban them?

Ever since the Council of Wyrms in 2e introduced the half-dragon humanoid race, I always thought there ought to be a big place for them in the DnD (then AD&D) universe. In keeping with the chromatic/metallic dragons of DnD, I would prefer if the dragonborn were more reflective of their direct...

    Faerunian Kobolds

Dragon #349 has a Hordelands article mentioning the ancient Kobold empire of Zexthandrim, their subjugation under the Imaskar and their destruction by said Imaskar. The koboldy ruins of Zexthandrim are guarded over by the secret gnomish kingdom of Songfarla. And you thought kobolds couldn't...

    Magic Jar: Is it useful?

An evil NPC safely in bed in a busy inn or congested city area could cause a lot of mischief jumping from body to body.

    Planescape: The Perfect MMO Setting?

I would be there in a heartbeat! So many races to play. So many outsiders to visit. Infinite planes to explore (i.e. expansion packs galore). If it captured the feel of the planes like Torment did, I would give up WoW immediately. If it played like Stormreach however, I would be disappointed.

What do you think of Modrons?

Speaking of mechanical beings, robots are sort of hot now. The Transformers movie will be out in July and Warner Bros. is floating the idea for a Metal Men movie. Not that modrons are robots or anything...

What do you think of Modrons?

Modrons Now and Forever... (sounds catchy and could be part of the upcoming Broadway musical, The Planescape Follies) ;)

    Cambion: Worst writeup ever?

How about a Wizards "Rewrite the Cambion" Contest? The winner's write-up replaces the current one on the website.

What do I want? An apology.

There will likely not be an apology. An apology is an admission of having done something wrong and any admission of wrong-doing would simply fuel an outcry to bring Dragon and Dungeon back as magazine.

WotC is going online. What do you want the digital initiative to be?

I believe that for this endeavor to be successful the online content must be superlative in execution. It generally has to "out-Dragon" Dragon magazine and "out-Dungeon" Dungeon magazine while also providing neat services that can only be done online. Anything less and the effort is likely to...

Pathfinder 1E Paizo no longer publishing Dungeon and Dragon

Are you saying that WotC will be publishing 2 magazines online, 1 being called Dragon and the other being calledDungeon, in pretty much the same form and content they are now (articles, cartoons, columns like sage advice, reviews, letters page, etc.)? Please provide a link to support your...

Live near any fantasy-sounding places? List 'em here!

I love real-world places that have exotic/unique fantasy-sounding names. As a kid, Death Valley in California just sounded very cool to me. As a DnD player, it could be the name of a place in Baator. Please list those you know here: In my neck of the woods, there are: > Foul Rift, NJ - a town...
