    ENnies 2004 - looking ahead

Incidently, the time to contact them for this type of thing would be..... well now. All things being equal, the farther out you arrange these things - the better the chance of them happening.

    ENnies 2004 - looking ahead

Typically how this works is that at some point during the convention, the sign-up for floor space "opens" up and a convention representative comes to each of the companies that have floor space. The order is typically determined by who spent the most money. The company then selects their booth...

Song of Ice and Fire question

Also, do not forget that alot of the good vs. bad stuff is heavily laced with Western perceptions. Thus, people may see Danyreas as neutral - but using a Eastern (or Middle Eastern) perception - she is quite good and quite heroic. Incidently, that is why I like the books - the only good people...

Should commoners (and everyone else) be a bit more durable?

I also think that part of the problem here is that is is hard to model "reality" in D & D - with the fairly low hp of 1st level creatures any sort of mishap that deals leathal damage can kill. Thus the housecat vs. the commoner. There are only two ways of solving this - giving more hitpoints...

Why doesn't Fantasy Flight Games get more Love

They did win for Midnight - which makes them not even getting nominated as a company somewhat surprising

Why doesn't Fantasy Flight Games get more Love

I have to admit when the ENnie nominations for best d20 Company came out - I was surprised the Fantasy Flight was not on there - especially when compared to some of the others nominated. I find that they are one of the two companies (Green Ronin being the other) that I will always pick up their...

[OT] Question For Medical Buffs (Darkmatter D20 players stay out!)

However, There are other methods of determining this inforamtion. They usually give out some level of information about the source - i.e. 17 year old male or 15 year old female. Take that information and cross reference it with newspaper clippings - this generally works best in the cast of...

Who has used Dynasties and Demegogues?

After perousing the ENie winner list - I notices Atlas' games Dynasties and Demigogues and always being on the lookout for quality supplements went on down to my FLGS and paged trhough it - and was decidely underwhelmed. The information seemed to be fairly obvious (especially if one has taken a...

    [OT] Old Bloom County!! (big)

In a lot of ways, it is like taveling back in time. I had completely forgotten about the MX missile - and all of the controversy it generated - or that the Soviet Union really was the evil empire and that Yuri Andropov was the devil....... Other enjoyabel parts are Oliver, the computer hacker...

    [OT] Old Bloom County!! (big)

What is most scary about re-reading all of the books are the numerous references to Regean cabinent ministers - people like Casper Weinberger and James Watt - as well as the comments about early 80's celebrities. I remember the name Paul Kurault - but could not tell you anything about him.

    [OT] Old Bloom County!! (big)

I recently re-discovered all of my BC books (have them all) and was planning on reading them soon. On a side note - the only cartoon character that I can draw is Bill.

    Babes of Gencon 2003

Your definately right about that - in fact the company I worked for eventually gave in and went that route. Of course - the leads that we got were even worse - but it made the VP of Marketing look good - so we did it.

    Babes of Gencon 2003

Whether or not the term offends anyone is not the point that I was trying to make. The term originated in the convention industry to describe hired flesh (as you describe above) - and was most assuradly used as an insulting term. Whether it has grown beyond that is cetainly debatable - but the...

    Babes of Gencon 2003

In defense of Piratecat (not that he needs it) - in the Convention Industry the term Booth Babe is intended to be (and is) insulting...... So there are generally better labels to pick.....

    beavers the size of bears

After all the Celeocanth IS extinct :D Wait, they found some - well never mind. As an interesting Game note, there is a Really cool game called American Megafauna by Sierra Madre Games. While not necessarily "fun" in the traditional sense - it is fun in the geeky paleontologist sort of way :)

1/4 million dollar fine for bootlegging d+d books?

As by others - in general I agree with Sigil as well. My only concerns comes into the fact that I feel organizations (i.e. companies) and to a lesser extent individuals that steal software need to be punished. Now I will admit that I have bias since I work for a software company - but the...
