    What monsters look like

The 3.5 MM has a nifty 1 paragraph description of the critter - thought this was a nice touch. edit for spelling

What d20 products do we really need?(similar to Pocket PHB thread)

I think the upcoming product schedule for Expeditous Retreat Press is a good first cut of the stuff we are missing.

Do you admit to being a gamer?

Same here (except that few years out of college you young wipper-snapper!!! :) - I try to keep as much seperation between work and home as possible - especially since I have a home office. However, I freely talk about my hobby with friends, neighbors and relatives - they give me grief -...

    Is D&D too PC friendly

I would even argue that if a DM was trying to make things as "realistic" PCS would never see 4th level. Afterall, why does the 1st level party always seem to fight the goblins - and never the pit fiends or ancient red dragons....... If I had a DM do that to me, I would walk out.

    Is D&D too PC friendly

Like Fenes, as a DM I try not to kill my PCs - so you will never find an impossible trap, rediculously powered mosters, etc in my campaign - viewing myself a the one responsible for generating the plot - with the PCs generating the dialog and the action. However, if the PCs put themselves in a...

    Is D&D too PC friendly

On the flip side - 3e has rules that allow you to specifically attack a PC weapons. Monsters can have class levels - "Oh its just a Kobold" Save or Die are still around (granted they are slowly going away)

Has the 3.5 Monster Manual gone PG-13?

Nope, no Elmore - but there is Diterlizzi. The other artist that got replaced was Post. Artist list includes: Angus, Arellano, Bader, Baxa, Chritchlow, Despain, Diterlizzi, Fischer, Guay-Mitchell, Jarvis, Jaquays, Kaluta, Kutson, Lockwood, Martin, Mimura, Mitchell, Moore, Rex, Reynolds...

Has the 3.5 Monster Manual gone PG-13?

Oh I agree that it is nothing to get ones delicates into a wad - but it is an interesting change compared to 3.0 - almost like some sort of Shock DJ trying to see how far they can push things......

Has the 3.5 Monster Manual gone PG-13?

I just finished paging through the 3.5 MM and was somewhat surprised by the edgyness of the book - specifically the illustrations for the Succubus, Erynes, Dryad and Nymph. From what I can tell - they definately pushed the envelope as compared to earlier versions - and was curious if others...

Dragon #310 :: Just got it in the mail.

My question is why the fighter is even bothering to wear the fur cape - seems that it would simply get in the way considering the rest of the armor. Also - and this a general complaint about Elmore - the lips just seem to full.......

    Scary monks! [3.5]

I am not quite sure what you are trying to say here.... All that I can say that is in order for a monk to be able to sunder with their fists - they NEED Eagle Claw attack. Now responding to other posters points. Playing a FT4/Monk9 I can unequivicably state that the monk is NOT a front line...

    creative exercise (worldbuilding?)

I think that you will find that small town America will be very good for this. For example - in my dad's hometown of Oxford, Nebraska (population @1500) the main resteraunt is the Muleskinner..... I envision it be catering to a bunch of 1/2 orcs at a trading post.

    AU vs PHB3.5

Joshua, From where I am sitting, the part that you are missing is how the book is being marketed. As soon as you stamp the world Variant in the marketing message, there is an implied choice. 1) You can go with Official PHB 2) YOu can go with the Variant 3) YOu can mix and match Now I agree...

    Say NO to 3.5

Joshua, It appears that my point is getting lost in the noise. What I am stating is that Monte's opinions on the PHB need to be taking with a grain of salt (how big of a grain is dependent on how big of a bias one thinks he has). The fact of the matter is that his company is marketing an...

    Say NO to 3.5

I think that one thing that we (and based off of your comments from Monte) and Monte forget is that we as EN World are much more educated than the average D & D consumer - I agree that there is little chance the an EN World savey customer would confuse AU with 3.5. However, take this scenario -...

    Say NO to 3.5

Not getting into why Monte left (because quite frankly this is an issue between WoTC and Monte) and how one feels this affects his relationship with WoTC (the only person that can answer this is Monte) - I do feel that with Monte creating a "variant PHB" that there is the POTENTIAL for conflict...

(OT) Anyone play Duel of Ages?

Actually, I found it to be well...... kind of silly. The backstory is simply rediculous (but I can overlook that) The play seems to be some type of Squad Leader light - that being said, it I am going to play a tactical combat game - I will play squad leader. Also - I found the quality of the...

Planesailing, Hmmmm, I like that, I like that alot - makes both the DMs and PCs happy!
