Blade Cascade official errata: It's now reasonable

Yeah fixing an obvious problem quickly is good. Way to many games never fix there problems or take a long, long time to.

New errata for core books, dated 7/2/2008

since its a daily it honestly would not bother me if a Wizard did this. Occupying a square feels more controller like though so I think its a good fix.

    Six hour combats

I don't know what we do differently, but the longest single fight I've been in once a system is known lasted 2 hours and this was 3.5e(18th level home brew adventure). Champions, 2e/1e/basic D&D all much faster for us. Now I've had extended encounters go over 2 hours, but running battles where...

Sensing the presence of magic - isn't the mechanic backward?

I'd probably go with this. Then I may add a ritual to conceal magical auras or create fake ones. A ritual for nystals magical aura. With the ritual it would create the normal difficulty results, and I'd explain it the ritual is powered by the magic in the item and so gains strength from it.

Why there's crafting in WOW and not in D&D

Any time any player monopolizes the time its bad. I don't care if its super talky guy wowing the prince in "great" role played out negotiations, or mister stealth sneaking in by him self to scout out the base, or a crafter. It always sucks for everyone but the one using the time. Its why...

Why there's crafting in WOW and not in D&D

Considering how other skills were combined it wouldn't of been a stretch to just have the craft skill and maybe an artisan skill or something. Make ti so crafting made useful items at all levels and provided a benefit, make the rules as quick to adjudicate as other skills and I'm happy.

Forked Thread:Secondary Ability > Cleric and Wizard Controll

Yeah, this is what I think a big issue is. Built into the basic class should have been control features that enhanced what they do. Not feats later on or a paragon path, but core abilities picked up at level 1. The implement mastery stuff a starting place for what they should of had, but...

Is Fey Step really the best racial power?

Well you wont be using it when you hit so the range of where its a somewhat high roll and a miss is kind of small. Generally the highest roll you will probably need and this would be rare is a 14.(I am not accounting for purposefully weak characters) That 11 will hit most of the time, so...

Why are scrying rituals so dang short?

I'm not sure I consider 2% of my total monetary take for the entire level 24 a pittance. At 30 seconds how many times would you have to cast this to get even half decent information, 20 times, 50 times. Heck I'll be nice and say 10 times, or 20% of your partys total take for level 24. So...

    Why do people hate Elfkind?

And as always the racial count argument falls flat due to it missing the entire point. 1. They usually add anything short into the dwarf grouping, massively padding the numbers. And they add in lots of races that came late in 3.5 largely put there to show some level of parity with the elf...

    Why do people hate Elfkind?

I think this was the beginning of the serious ant-elf happenings at least for D&D. When elves were better stonemasons and armor smiths than dwarves I think even people on the fence started looking for torches and pitchforks to carry on there next D&D character.

    Earthdawn 4e Announced

Really? Yeah everyone has powers in earthdawn, but nothing is once a day or once an encounter. The closest you come to that is some fatigue/damage being applied during the use of some powers. You aren't limited to knowing a handful of powers, you don't magically forget things, leveling is...

So THAT's why Regdar gets no love...

It's funny to me, but to me I read the creative team tried to go around the marketing team and do marketing the creative team way. And then the marketing team took back what was there job. Art and covers are there to grab the attention of the guy walking by. It is mainly a marketing tool.

Shuriken as a Melee weapon and Retrieving thrown weapons

I have no idea what a kunai is in real life. I do know in Naruto they represent something like a dagger and a shuriken.

How drunk do I get? - need rules for intoxication

I'd make it an attack on there fort defense, with being trained in endurance giving you a +5 to fort vs alcohol. I'd make it a flat roll for most drinks that aren't supposed to be super potent drink on a dare drinks. For each drink past that I'd add +1 to the attack roll. If I were to use...

    Crafting and armor Costs

i always found this odd. In my games, the players assume they are taking weeks if not months off between adventures. We never saw Dungeon delving as something you do on a daily basis, or adventuring as a 40 hour work week job. You go on an adventure, there is significant downtime and you...

Shuriken as a Melee weapon and Retrieving thrown weapons

I'd let it be used in melee combat as a light weapon, to me its like a kunai form naruto. If the thrown weapon is magical it returns to you to be re-thrown. I try not to visualize the area of effect thrown weapon barrage from one magical thrown weapon. (I think I'll go with enchanted...

    Wizards in leather

Yeah, the controller needs to go first in order for them to do there job. at the heroic level I'd say the must haves are picking up perception some how as a trained skill. And either improved initiative or quick draw.

    Wizards in leather

It depends on how the game runs in your campaign if its must have or not. If the defender actually keeps people off the wizard +2 to ac isn't that huge since it doesn't come up that often. If the mage is the first target of all ranged opposition, and people eat AoO to get to the mage, its a...
