    Wizard question?

Player classes will have a fairly large swing between AC and other defenses. For example a leather armor wearer will eventually have a 4 point swing between Ac and reflex defense. The heavier the armor, the larger the swing in reflex defense. Monsters seem to have anywhere from no difference...

    Dragonborn, Wintertouched & Lasting Frost

By the rules, nothing happens. I'd make specifically targeted areas as icy/difficult terrain. Ground just caught in the area of a normal breath weapon used for attack, would get nothing. But, I like players trying to use there powers creatively.

    Long Distance Teleport Rituals?

I'd have the same limitless options if they had rules, only difference is, it would be easier to gauge balance since presumably it would have been play tested.

    Long Distance Teleport Rituals?

I think it is cool, but the cost in both money and level for the end game one is too much IMO. You can't get a teleport anywhere ritual until you are two levels from Godhood, does not exactly scream epic too me.

    Long Distance Teleport Rituals?

So other than the level 28 ritual(way too high level IMO) long distance teleports require arriving in a teleportation point of some kind. So big towns have them, large churches, magic universities etc. Well am I missing the rule on how they are made? I'm basically fine with needing them...

Critiques of 4e: about style not substance?

I wish it was more naruto anime. Then we would have summons, more powerful effects, you could use powers more often and easily use the same power multiple times, you would not magically forget your basics, it would be awesome.

Critiques of 4e: about style not substance?

I want Advanced 4e, where they put options back in.

    No Animate Dead?

Well since the wizard in particular and lots of other classes have tons of area of effect attacks, you very likely will be making multiple attacks virtually every round of the fight. So, no it isn't very different. On top of that, lots of the wizard attacks have lingering effects, which while...

    D&D 4E 4e and save or dies.

When people reply with hostility, sometimes there is a reason. Re-read your own post and maybe you can see why. You might not of meant to come across as trying to talk down to someone, but the internet does not translate intent very well.

    No Animate Dead?

Well 3e was not trying to make a claim to having an economy of actions balancing mechanic, so rolling 12 saves wasn't an issue. If you are claiming you want an economy of actions so each player has effectively one action, having the player roll 12 times for his area of effect powers kind of...

    No Animate Dead?

I can't be sure it will be a minion, but things like charms the victim can only make basic attacks, dominate its dazed and only at will attacks, and though I can no longer find it I believe I saw someplace that mentioned you could only make basic attacks with summons. So maybe I am not sure...

    Linguist at 1st Level

I did not notice that. I'd like to assume it is in regards to the races that get to choose a language, and not the feat. Though waiting until level 2 isn't that hard. Heck it would seem silly to limit linguist since its just a one level limit.

    No Animate Dead?

Is the loss of economy of actions with summons and undead, any worse than the loss of economy of action any time a area of effect spell is cast? How is my 3 dire badgers make basic attacks, and are 1 HP minion wanders any slower to process than rolling 12 times to hit with a fireball or a...

    Human or Eladrin Wizard

I really like the +2 to arcana and history. They stack with anything so the best ritualists are the Eladrin. Eladrin at level 1 can +10 to arcana, and that is kind of cool IMO. Sure the human can get to +8, but the extra +2 has a nice feel for a ritual based character.

D&D 4E 4e -- Is The World Made Of Cheese?

I don't have a problem with the mechanic, but I'll point out in 3e D&D breaking stuff was actually really hard. Sure adamantite, meant you could get through anything but it was still fairly slow HP attrition. In 4e its just as slow, just without the hardness. you do less damage and the object...

So, who's looking forward to 4E Forgotten Realms?

Some of the things I have heard give me a Mystara vibe, and to me that is a very good thing.

    Spell Focus

I'd say force of personality and force of will are two different things. Also considering the orb implement reduces save DCs with wisdom it seems a bit inconsistent to have a feat that does the same thing require chr.

D&D 4E 4e -- Is The World Made Of Cheese?

I'm actually happy with 0 hardness across the board. I always found 3e disappointing in how durable object were. Player "I cast meteor swarm at that wooden cottage and burninate the peasants inside." DM "The cottage is slightly smoldering and you thing you knocked some of thatch off the...

    Perception: We've all gone blind!

I will say, considering its a role based game the wizard probably should have had it on his spell list. The entire control role drops massively in usefulness if they don't see the enemy coming. Most of the other roles do fine, the enemy gets close, you lose a round, you pound on them. The...

    Ok, just tell me Why

I think there is enough fluff, especially with he art for a new DM to know what the monster basically is. The 4e MM lets a new DM know what basic role the monster will be playing. This will help him a heck of a lot more than knowing that McNgugget monsters come from all white meat chicken...
