Now that 4e is out, are you into it or sticking with a prior edition?

I would say it seems low given that ENworld seems like a fairly pro-4e site. Though, i suspect like most edition changes as time goes by more and more people make the change.

Now that 4e is out, are you into it or sticking with a prior edition?

I am not sure. There are enough similarities in the core systems that I probably could bring stuff either direction with little difficulty. But, I think I will just make a total change at the end of a campaign once they supply enough basic fantasy concepts for my players.

Now that 4e is out, are you into it or sticking with a prior edition?

For a while, and when 3e covered the things I wanted I went to 3e. And I'm sticking with 3e for a while and then moving to 4e when it covers the things I want.

Now that 4e is out, are you into it or sticking with a prior edition?

I must agree? That is odd, because I find myself not agreeing with this. I do not find 4e any more of a cash grab than 3e was. I do not find any more of a needed change in 2e that is not in 3e.

    Ok, just tell me Why

You know, I've played and GMd a wide variety of games, and I've never had a player overwhelmed by options. This entire less is more mantra about the limiting off options I just don't buy since I've never seen a problem with the more. Sometimes less is just that, less.

Now that 4e is out, are you into it or sticking with a prior edition?

For the moment, sticking with 3e for D&D things. I like a lot of what I see in 4e, but it does not cover what my players would need for a game yet. When PH3 or so comes out then I'll probably make the switch, no summoning, no necromancy, no druids, a fairly woeful feat selection yeah not yet...

    D&D 4E Point buy, 4e & you.

While this is true, I would not add the value judgment to the end of it. Why should it hurt your other stats hard, is your play style some how inherently superior to others? Somehow I doubt that you method of fun is somehow better than another groups method of fun. I think it would...

D&D 4E An in depth rules discussion on the mechanical problems and breakthroughs of 4e

Eh, I think it will play out with enough similarities that for some it will feel very similar to lower levels, and for others it will feel totally different. It kind of depends on what your play experience is focussed on. I hope i can bring into focus the actions they are doing with enough...

    Telepor-falling

The General Lee has divine power, so I might allow it for a cleric or the epic destiny demi god.

D&D 4E An in depth rules discussion on the mechanical problems and breakthroughs of 4e

I see positives and negatives to this. In fights yeah, I suspect they will all start to feel the same, you need an X to hit at low levels, you need an X to hit at high levels, the fight lasts 6-9 rounds at low levels it lasts 6-9 rounds at high levels. On the other hand I am looking...

    Healing Potions seem woeful

I can buy this up to the point the character drops. Once they are down and a few bad saves away from death, i don't visualize them as just tired with a few scratches anymore. And I do not want to visualize them that way.

    Telepor-falling

Cartoons or jumping in 3.5. I loved(sarcasm) the rule that if you jumped further than your movement, you were hanging in air until your next turn where you could complete your move.

    Healing Potions seem woeful

I can accept the gamist aspects of this, though yes it is incredibly wonky if you try to logically work it out. My issue is, healing surges limited by the day seem to set up the nova thing they were trying to avoid. I don't expect to see it much in the beginning, but in the beginning of 3e the...

    Healing Potions seem woeful

How much gold to players have at 8th level?? And what is a 1,000GP in the world. Is gold the new copper, is a GP still about what a gp was in previous editions.

What does an acrobatic stunt do?

Hey, don't crush my dreams man. ;) Amazon will be doing that on the 11th.

    Wizard and spellbooks

Since people advance in level when I say so, and not by a XP chart I'm not worried by what the rules say about advancement. But, I will say the default speed of advancement is faster than I will use. But, so was 3e. Where as 2e and earlier editions were slower than what I used. I do not...

What does an acrobatic stunt do?

I really like what I'm hearing about the stunt mechanic in this thread. I like the idea of more damage for non-repeatable or hard to repeat stunts. I can't wait to get the DMG. I think this may be the first time I want the DMG first and the PH second.

    Swimming in plate armor??

Well for swimming I'd think the buoyancy of the armor is what is important. 50lbs of metal would sink fairly fast, though you may have some air trapped between you and the armor for a short time providing a small degree of buoyancy. Impossible to swim in it, nope but it would be really hard...

    Swimming in plate armor??

Not very realistic at all. The goal IMO is to put people at a disadvantage not take them out of the adventure. 3 rounds top, with each round reducing the penalties as parts of the armor is ditched.

    Swimming in plate armor??

Beowulf not only has bad taste in women but he is at least paragon tier so from my perspective no problem.
