Part of me also wants to inject some of Blazing Saddles, if only to interject the line, “Where the night women at?”

Going even further into left field- and possibly crossing over the fence into the bullpen- Paint Your Wagon. If you don’t know it, it’s a musical comedy with Clint Eastwood and Lee Marvin set in a town in the throes of a local gold rush. Substituting silver for gold…🤔 And of course, given the...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

You might appreciate this jazz interpretation by Alex Skolnick’s (Testament) jazz trio. And Post Malone is (surprisingly) is a metalhead who has done some decent straightforward covers of several iconic tunes, including: T Pain also caught me off guard with his version: Oh yeah, There I...

Gotta ask…the language in the first one is…? EDIT: had a free moment and found out the lead singer is Ethiopian.

I know a couple people trying it with mixed results- not bad to damn good. I’m not going to yet because I’m still concerned about side-effects. I’m a poster child for unusual medical events.

This needs to be a playable game…except maybe with Emus as the main antagonists instead.😜 Aussies v. Emus II, coming soon!

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I’m reminded of the chicken cannon story. They were designed to fire chickens at plane parts to simulate bird strikes. But the first time they used it (back in the late 1940s), the poultry penetrated everything like they were AP rounds. When they complained to the cannon design crew, the...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

My freshman dorm was voted most dangerous dorm on campus. I think the running dart fights (using standard darts) had something to do with that. My favorite made-up game was actually from my senior year of HS- “Tron”. We’d go into an empty classroom and smack a superball around with textbooks...

Judge decides case based on AI-hallucinated case law

In fact, McDonald’s had settled a bunch of coffee burn cases in the decade leading up to the case, and chose the Liebeck case as their line in the sand. The plaintiff actually offered to settle several times, but McD’s wanted to fight for their right to parboil.

Judge decides case based on AI-hallucinated case law

The combination of inaccuracy coupled with a major increase in energy (and thus, pollution) costs for marginal (if any) improvements in work output marks its use in certain fields to be inherently unethical.

Judge decides case based on AI-hallucinated case law

Personally I’ve never used an AI for legal research, and I’ve rarely had issues finding the case law, codes/statutes I’m looking for. And usually pretty quickly. I don’t recall ever needing more than a couple refinements to get usable results. As someone else put it, it seems like a solution...

Judge decides case based on AI-hallucinated case law

Just had a horrible tangential thought: We know that some AIs are incorporating the errors of others because their training process included those errors in the training. GIGO. If law-specific AIs are being trained in a similar fashion, what’s to stop them from incorporating erroneous...

Not just that; he’s a BIG fan of the Socratic method, and “So what?” quickly became the most terrifying syllables uttered to his students.

Judge decides case based on AI-hallucinated case law

There’s a reason Umbran started this thread. We know that some of the cases in the original pleadings were AI hallucinations. This particular thread is just talking about one particular case involving the law, but it’s not even the only one mentioned on this board. I’ve personally brought up...

Judge decides case based on AI-hallucinated case law

The point remains, if AI is both as unreliable as demonstrated AND as ecologically harmful to use as has been reported, it’s suicidal to ADD it to the technological arsenal of mankind. It’s irredeemable and irresponsible. Put differently, why add fuel to the inferno?
