How do you spot a munchkin? (share skills!)

The 1st tell tale is if the, new to your game, player refers to his character as a "build". While not 100% accurate at all, I've found it to be a starting point that indicates what the player's attitude to the game is. YMMV

Healing Belt in MIC = broken?

It doesn't talk about XP bloat in the quote...

How does pulling old edition pdfs benefit WotC?

So, in summary. The the only way pulling old edition PDFs possibly benefits WotC is that it keeps paying customers from spending on old editions and hopefully, they will spend on 4.0 instead. Ahem. Don't use red text, please. We save that for needing to get someone's attention. Like now! ~ PCat

A campaign with no (few) dinosaurs?

Nope, not at all. The "default" setting, if there is one, is medieval EU, not the Jurassic period.

Representing flying on the battle mat?

I just use large casino D6 with the face up pip representing 10's of feet if that is the scale.

How does pulling old edition pdfs benefit WotC?

That may be but, years of experience running a business that relies on customers upgrading to newer versions of the same product tell me differently. Have you run a large company where rev relies on getting customers onto the latest product version?

How does pulling old edition pdfs benefit WotC?

Hmm, I've run an international S/W company with over $150,000,000/year sales. When we had titles that resellers only sold & we had no enduser contact, it was called a profit center, not a cost center. Perhaps you'd like to detail to me your theories on how the older PDFs were a cost center...

How does pulling old edition pdfs benefit WotC?

Simple. The total # of players playing 1st - 3.x is much greater than those playing 4.0 WotC wants new players to be unable to purchase the older editions and only buy 4.0. WotC isn't going to reissue older games in PDF format & a proprietary, online DRM version isn't going to cut it.

Edition Bias and 4e Sales Perception

I've bought & played it. Interesting system. Only hard data I have is that local chain book stores stopped carrying after poor sales of core books last year. Sales worldwide could be good or bad, no way to know without hard numbers from WotC.

Healing Belt in MIC = broken?

Actually, XP wasn't the reason. The reason is given in the DMG.

Healing Belt in MIC = broken?

Not off the top of my head. Look in the 1st DMG, if you don't own one I highly suggest getting one if not just for the invaluable data on DMing.

Healing Belt in MIC = broken?

I think the best definition was written in the 1st Ed DMG.

Healing Belt in MIC = broken?

Interesting. In 30 years of playing I've never seen this as a Modus operandi for groups I've DMed for or played with. Is it some new trend with RPGers?

    The iPhone Will Kill D&D

I'll let you know when ANY player I've gamed with would rather stare at a 2" square screen while tapping keys, over sitting down at the table playing. If, you live to be as old as an elf I might find someone...

Healing Belt in MIC = broken?

That's what happened. It also lead designers to ignore spell schools and create spells and designate them as belonging to incorrect schools, etc... Anything outside of core books needs to be checked for adhering to the basic game rules.

    Light Blindness

Let's put it this way. If you were slowly exposed to an arc search light shining in your eyes would it still effect you? Yes.
