    Act structure in adventure design

I don't remember that post. I'll reread the thread.

    Act structure in adventure design

No thanks. I've been DMing since '76. I'm aware of the different GMing styles approaches. I don't really like this approach as it encourages railroading. That was my only point, not whether anyone else should do it.

What levels should the D&D Pantheon Gods be?

The gods have been statted since 1st Ed. I still have my original Deities & demigods, complete with Cthulhu gods, Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser, etc. When were gods NOT statted in D&D?

    things i like/dislike about PHB2 - a sort of review

Thanks. I was hesitant to buy it sight unseen over the net. I'll wait till the major book chains in my area decide to carry in store so I can view it for myself.

Wand of healing: Everybody pitch in?

The best way to handle is to have everyone else chip in and tell him that he won't get it used on him. Problem solved.

Wand of healing: Everybody pitch in?

I agree but the OP's DM obviously is running that type of game. So, best to stick to the problem at hand.

    Act structure in adventure design

That ALL depends on why there are consequences. If it is because the DM wants to funnel the characters to stay "on script" then it is railroading.

And, if the players don't follow the "script"? Railroading?

Wand of healing: Everybody pitch in?

Here is an apt analogy; If your group was a self funded commando group (soldiers of fortune), would you make the medic pay for the groups medical supplies? Would you require individuals pay for their ammo? Would you require the heavy weapons expert pay for the RPGs? Or, would you guys be a team?

PHB2 Races = Mos Eisley Cantina

Yes, but not really relevant. When was the last time you saw an African gorilla in your local bar?

Fighters didn't matter after 11th level?

Bingo. That's why I'd rather have a game system that minimizes the problem rather then pleading with a player to not play his PC to the best of his ability.

Why did they say Vancian magic would be gone?

The system is a poorly designed Frankenstein.

What levels should the D&D Pantheon Gods be?

Umm, no. Reread the original myths as written by the Greek authors. Uranus was castrate, not killed...

Fighters didn't matter after 11th level?

Actually, a player can attempt to design new spells. Per RAW the DM decides whether, and to what degree, it is successful. Hence, my sig.

Fighters didn't matter after 11th level?

Yeah, I reintroduced this in my games and it goes a long way to reign in the spellcasters. Also, 5' step & cast is gone.

    Problem Players and Problem DMs

At first is 3.5 this was a problem. After a while as a DM it was fairly easy to make fixes needed to the system. Since a DM has TOTAL control over items, spells and what not, I had no more "problem" players, even if someone tried. In the beginning it was usually a player stumbled onto...

What levels should the D&D Pantheon Gods be?

Currently the gods in my campaign are from Greek mythology, thus unkillable even by other gods. I assign them levels based on magic ability and what not but, since they can't be killed it isn't that meaningful.

Monsters - How to best run them?

The best way (which has worked since the beginning of time) is to decide how tough you want the encounter to be and populate it accordingly. Once you are familiar with the party & monsters this becomes fairly easy.
