D&D 5E (2014) I think we can safely say that 5E is a success, but will it lead to a new Golden Era?

We have a ton of dedicated PF players around here, who are very invested in the Paizo product. Most of them are definitely going to play 5E in one way or another. The majority are going to abandon PF entirely. I know that's anecdotal, but I found that interesting.

D&D 5E (2014) Does anyone who got an mm at Gencon want to offer up spoilers to us?

Some of these monsters are EXTREMELY dangerous! The mummy rot is nasty! Mummies are only a CR3 creature, but a cleric needs to be 5th level to get Remove Curse. A party better know ahead of time what they are up against, or they will be sorely pressed not to have some players permanently killed...

D&D 4E 5e What Skill(s) would you use for the 4e equivalent of Dungeoneering?

This also presents some more situations that the Dwarven "Stonecunning" double proficiency bonus might apply.

    D&D 5E (2014) Wizard v. GWF

I recall some of the "math" guys on the board did a comparison of the damage per round and/or day between a Wizard and a Great Weapon Champion. For the life of me, I can't find the thread. Can anyone recall this thread and point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance!

    D&D 5E (2014) So...warlocks?

Yes, the short rest one hour minimum does make it a crucial tactical decision for the players. In the few 5e sessions I've run, the only used on or two a day due to wandering monster considerations.

    D&D 5E (2014) Thoughts on 10 hour Marathon Session of 5E

Yes, I know that cunning action is a bonus action. Unfortunately, I forgot that while we were playing. The confusion regarding the "rests" wasn't that I didn't know the difference between the two, it was rather which particular class abilities recharged during which particular rest, and whether...

D&D 5E (2014) Fun and Interesting things from the 5e system

One of the things that kept popping up yesterday when I was running Lost Mines was using ranged weapons or spell attacks when opponents are in dim light or lightly obscured. What negatives apply to the attack roll?

    D&D 5E (2014) Thoughts on 10 hour Marathon Session of 5E

SPOILERS A couple of weeks ago I ran the Lost Mines adventure for a group at our FLGS for a couple of hours. However, it was a group of 6, and there were some that hadn't played D&D before. It was hard to gauge exactly how the system played out as I did not increase the difficulty for having...

D&D 5E (2014) Fun and Interesting things from the 5e system

I thought you can only hide if you cannot be seen at all, not if you are lightly obscured?

    D&D 5E (2014) My D&D 5E Starter Set Quest and Campaign

Because they defeated a credible threat. For example, if a party, through skills, avoids combat with a beholder guarding the entrance to the Lost Tomb of Chazarai and is awarded experience, and subsequently has to fight and defeat the Beholder as they flee the city, wouldn't you award them...

D&D 5E (2014) Halfling Rogue Actions During a Turn - Hiding, Advantage, and Sneak Attacks

    D&D 5E (2014) 23 players, 12 hours - The Lost Mine of Phandelver

There are limits on the number of items to which you can be attuned (3 I believe). However, I, too, am wondering if the limits go far enough. We shall see.

    D&D 5E (2014) My D&D 5E Starter Set Quest and Campaign

Mark, Thanks for the thoughtful response. I didn't meant to imply that one needs to have combat experience (that's why I added the caveat "read credible info about that") in order to know for sure. I was just looking at how the designers gave advantage in the game. It seem as if they don't when...

D&D 5E (2014) Halfling Rogue Actions During a Turn - Hiding, Advantage, and Sneak Attacks

Thanks Melkor, that was the tweet I was talking about. It looks like another "DM's call based on common sense" ruling, which I think is wonderful (unless you have a crappy DM!).

    D&D 5E (2014) My D&D 5E Starter Set Quest and Campaign

I don't have enough personal experience with hand to hand combat with weapons to know whether the 10% (+2) bonus for attacking from higher ground does not accurately reflect that benefit. If you do (or have read credible information that it does), then I would agree with your solution.

D&D 5E (2014) Halfling Rogue Actions During a Turn - Hiding, Advantage, and Sneak Attacks

I could have sworn that a tweet from Mearls suggested that if you "pop out" from behind your medium sized ally you are "in view" and no longer are hidden, thus, no advantage. I'm not sure how much an overall difference it would make as you get SA damage anytime one of your non-incapacitated...

    D&D 5E (2014) My D&D 5E Starter Set Quest and Campaign

Mark, I noted that you gave the PCs advantage when attacking from a higher ground. I assumed from all the "math" people, that giving out advantage for those minor situations was a no-no. Did you feel it was overpowered? In other words, giving out a +4 to +5 advantage when in past editions...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e Magic

Mearls tweeted regarding Empowered Evocation : @Plaguescarred : Does Empowered Evocation let you add your INT mod to every magic missiles? @mikemearls : nope, just per target. Even though missiles are separate, it's technically one damage roll per target, not missile Perhaps this is...
