The Id DM Interviews Monte Cook

On a completely irrelevant note, that guy is on the high end of game designer atrractiveness!

[Tavern Thread] The Dunn Wright Inn

Bipper grins back in a way good-natured way at being "caught" messing with people, and continues to imbibe and observe the room while the gnome chatters on. He finally notices the shadowy someone (his eyes aren't so great), but is unable to make out the details. He arches an eyebrow...

Item creation is not allowed in LPF, but if I had Magician or Arcane Duelist archetypes, I'd have a Bonded Weapon or Staff - could I use the Bonded Item's pseudo-access to item creation feats to upgrade my bonded item? Edit: Semi-relatedly, I just noticed that Merfolk are an allowed race. I...

[Tavern Thread] The Dunn Wright Inn

"Both at once, eh? That suits me just fine. From whom do we receive these profitable yet somehow also philanthropic assignments?" Bipper always got a kick out of using big words among people who'd never met a smart half-orc, but he also was practiced at hiding his smile with a drink... and this...

    Potential Dreamscarred Press Kickstarter Discussion

OMG JSMIFFFFFFF! Hm, some sort of "request a feat" tier? Like for $_00, someone can get a book, PDF, and have your team custom-make a feat for characters that want to (foo). Also, other RPG kickstarters have all sorts of cool reward tiers and stretch goals that you can probably borrow from.

Roger! The wiki didn't mention much about orcs or half-orcs, so I've taken the liberty of assuming orcs in this setting are the mean, rampaging horde types as per usual. EDIT: I know, isn't it great?! I can finally make a half-orc who's actually Intimidating! (via brutally cutting Perform...

Man, I haven't played serious RPGs in awhile. Character creation is such a blooming headache! Is there some sort of default package I can spend my 150 on without having to pore through lists? Similarly are there any default traits for bards, half-orcs, or whip-users? The traits list is massive...

The half-orc chuckles. Normally I leave the drinking of fine things to the people who will appreciate it. Ale is just something that keeps my hands busy while my thoughts are elsewhere. Since it's a gift, though, I'll endeavor to savor it. He picks up the glass as it arrives, nods at the...

Bipper Hammergleam, half-orc bard 1 (under construction) An exhausted, beweaponed half-orc trudges into the tavern. He leans close and mutters, Biggest glass of the cheapest you've got, please. And then maybe a tip on where to inquire about employment, to the bartender, and sits down heavily...

A house! Mon dieu, congrats! Trying out those builders now. Having browsed the SRD (thanks!) I'm feeling the urge to just try out the new base classes and once again pass up Theurge. The nifty features added to Sorc and Wiz are tantalizing - surprisingly solid reason to NOT prestige out...

No, there wasn't a link. Because I couldn't find the instructions thread at first, I did some googling and wound up at the social group somehow. I feel like the wiki is... helpful, but not VERY helpful for folks unfamiliar with Pathfinder like myself. I'm figuring my way through it though. Is...

I posted a hello, but I think it may have been the wrong place. I just noticed that all the thread dates over there are pretty old. EN World: Your Daily RPG Magazine - Welcome Thread Does Pathfinder have a good character builder like 3.5's ridicu-awesome Heroforge? I can google up several with...

    So, Attacks of Oppportunity?

I dunno whether you've read the latest news, but they seem to be aware of the gaping hole left by AoOs and intending to include some sort of less-complicated rule with a similar effect in the next playtest!

    Alternative to Vancian / AEDU

Awesome! I will read up on that and see if it gives me any ideas that I can use to refine mine. There seems to be a fairly good consensus going indicating that my wording is complicated or difficult to grasp intuitively. If anyone has rewrite suggestions I'm all ears. :) I'm thinking about...

That's a viable option, too. An hour is a LONG period of time though. Unless the whole dungeon is taking naps waiting for you to wake them up, tapping should be a risk for the player. Your party will want to keep moving, or the denizens might stumble across you while you're lounging about...

Oh, hello! Yeah, having played a 3.5 wizard, I know a giant pile of spell slots can lead to a staggering pile of decisions you need to make. Sure you could prepare the same things every day, but then why play a wizard? Sorcerers can do the same thing every day - with more slots and less work...

    1st Edition PH Excerpts: Bard

Wow, that is one powerful piece of work! Qualifying for all four classes must have been tough, though, not to mention the down payment on all those levels you take and then forget about from the first three classes. Big pimpin if you get that far though, eh? Conjecture: they are previewing...

    Rule-of-Three: 06/12/2012

I'm sad to see material components making a comeback - many of them are just thinly-veiled science jokes or worse, puns. I don't mind keeping track of expensive material components! But I'd be annoyed to play at a table where I can't cast spells B and C because my "contains everything...

D&D 5E (2014) On DDI Articles: Please check the News Page first [UPDATE: rule relaxed]

Yeah, if it's not 5e, I don't (currently) find it interesting, so it'd be nice if a jump was in the only forum I'm reading. Glad to know where all the article-related threads are hiding, though, so I'll take a look.

Will the real Mike Mearls please stand up?

This thread is awesome! Because Mearls has had two different opinions over time, we can find a way to crucify him regardless of which viewpoint we have! Finally an issue that 4ers and 3.5ers can agree upon. ...because anyone who disagrees with us has personally harmed us!
