    Any Open Settings?

Brad Pitt as the god of death is neat, though. "The first rule of the afterlife: you don't talk about the afterlife" :D Oh yeah, how could I have forgotten? Excellent setting, totaly open, and totally free. I highly recommend. And it's forward thinking too - no gnomes!

    Any Open Settings?

Well, while it didn't go too far the Tempest Open Game Campaign Setting was basically a fan-based attempt to do what you're describing. http://ogcs.wikispaces.com/ The chief death god is Edit: perhaps a note on Phaeton's dogma, the dark one's adversary, would be of use; the horror's entry was...

    Daily Art Preview

I'll second that. I generally hate the Gith, but these look awesome. And his other linked piece is great too. WotC should comission more from this guy!

    GSL news.

Excellent news. I'm particularly happy that the license will apparently be a free license, and not require registration with WotC if you don't use the D&D logo. I was (I admit) pretty certain that it would impose such a barrier to entry, at least registration if not actual fees. My fears are...

The Oligarchy of Mavet Rav - It's Hebrew!

Yes, I found some of the ideas very nice. He presents a believable take on necropolitics that I haven't considered before. For my own games I use many Latin, Chinese, or similarly exotic names.... but when designing a name in Hebrew (which I do when others in the game don't know Hebrew), I try...

    D&D 4E Midnight with 4e

I'm thinking about the campaign I want to run when 4e comes around, and a Midnight campaign is appealing to me. However, I'd like my first 4e campaign to really embrace 4e so I can check it out, and I'm having trouble fitting Midnight in with the full range of 4e mechanics. I've just abotu given...

The Oligarchy of Mavet Rav - It's Hebrew!

Am I really the first to post about the new Wizards article? http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/drfe/20080416a Nice, but I would never be able to use it without giggling. "Mavet Rav" means "Lots of Death" in Hebrew. Imagine coming to the city Death-A-Lot.... Other Hebrew in the work...

    D&D 4E 4e Monster Manual excerpt

I don't like the Charm thingie. You are charmed, so now you can interpose yourself to defend her... do I get to interpose myself before my ally, who haven't charmed me? Before my true love? And how precisely am I interposing myself without moving? Would be kinda hard to do if, say, my ally is...

    Internet Site Recommendations?

I'd like to draw on the combined wisdom of ENWorld - can you give me good sites for roleplaying advice, tips, and so on? I'm specifically looking for it in the context of a game centered around the myths and history of medieval Europe, so any good sites related to that would be appreciated too...

    D&D in the Military?

The rumours regarding the Israeli army are exagerrated. The army does send people he thinks are engaged in LARPs for a psychological evaluation. That's about it. I'm not familiar with any D&D gaming in the Israeli army. In my limited experience (as an infantary field-intelligence sergeant), I...

IF a PDFs of the 3 core books were leaked, would you:

I would download the files to take a look, but won't start playing until well after my (pre-ordered) books arrive - I'd prefer to read the hardcover, and won't have time to read them all and play before the pre-orders arrive anyway. (And of course I won't use downloaded files without paying for...

    New Roleplaying Community/Portal

Congradulations and good luck with the project! Hmm, no. ENWorld doesn't hold the articles, podcasts, and so on he envisions, nor is it organized well to present such content that it does have. ENWorld is also not community-run to a great degree (it's run by a small cabal of the owner + his...

Here's a list of published settings. Which are good for the PoL style?

What are Shadar-Kai, and why won't Clerics (& Paladins etc.) do for Legates? You would need to create Astirax mechanics, of course. I don't see where the Tieflings and Dragonborn fit in. But otherwise, yeah - I think Midnight can make a very good POL setting. I don't think the high power-level...

D&D 4E Would you buy 4E if it were not open/had no licenses for 3rd party companies?

As you said, internet polls are very bad market research. I LOVE open gaming. But I seriously doubt if those numbers or anything like them would stack up in the real world. Most customers, I believe, don't even know what "Open Gaming" is. I sincerely doubt the numbers of sales lost will be...

D&D 4E Would you buy 4E if it were not open/had no licenses for 3rd party companies?

While I would purchase 4e core even if it's completely clsoed (and voted accordingly), I probably wouldn't be buying further supplements beyond that. I intend to take the good bits and plug them into an OGL game, not to continue playing official D&D in the long run.

    Pramas on the OGL

It's always interesting hearing from the high-up folks. I suspect the OGL has overall helped WotC sales, and I think it helped its' products quality by providing more talent and encouraging them to make productws that were better than their competitor's (even if they didn't really compete...

    OD&D 4 me (April Fools)

:carefully stepping over the remains of the bar fight: I can certainly see the appeal of simpler games. (Yes, I guess my age is showing.) But why OD&D? Why limit yourself with all its idiosyncratic ways and mechanics? If I want to run a simple game, I prefer a truly simple system like FUDGE...

I think the OGL forum should be left only as a legacy of the OGL mailing list of old. If someone wants to post to the "mailing list", he can post there. Posts about the OGL should, in general, be relegated to the General forum, not the OGL forum. This is because the traffic involved is so small...
