D&D 4E Who has rights to BoEF, and are they in on the 4e OGL

According to my reading of the tea-leaves, the new STL's (or as WotC calls it, "OGL") clauses will not allow the creation of such content under it. So no 4e BoEF.

    Forking the OGL

I doubt it. It smells to me like a new license entirely.

D&D 4E WotC announces plans for 4e SRD and OGL

Since WotC does own, errg, I mean employs lawyers, I'm pretty confident they could phrase things in a way that will make legal sense. :) Perhaps the "OGL" won't really be called an "Open Gaming License".

D&D 4E WotC announces plans for 4e SRD and OGL

So endeth the era of open gaming*. :( It was good while it lasted. That was my first thought. I agree with And I also agree that this means that anyone using the False OGL [false as in - there is nothing Open about it, and it isn't a continuation of the old OGL at all] would not be able to...

looking for 2-3 players for an Ars Magica game

Update: I'm widening the time-frame in hope of catching more players - we'll set the time jointly once we have enough players, anytime from thursday evening to saturday evening (from my POV, GMT+02:00). Come on guys, I need two more players to get this thing started properly...

Did you look at Ghostwalk? What did you think?

The concept of playing characters once they are dead, if done right, is interesting. I don't think the way Ghostwalk approached things was this right idea, though, so I voted as not liking either - I don't like playing characters after they are dead in the Ghostwalk way. I don't like having a...

    Paying for previews... sigh

What WotC should be doing, is making money for Hasbaro ;) No, I don't really get it. The preview books aren't just that, they contain designer notes and so on, letting you glimpse into how 4e was made - so they aren't just previews. But still, I won't be willing to pay to get that. And I...

    D&D Modules on Wikipedia

True. I did insert a graph from Wikipedia regarding world energy production into my PhD proposal's talk, but just as a talking point - I wouldn't rely on it as a source for hard data, I principally use it as a memory aid to make sure I remember the formulas right (figuring the chances are nill...

Do you use digital projection of some sort for your gaming maps?

While I don't use digital projection, I do show the players the maps on occasion, hiding the parts they haven't been to yet. So an untagged map would be useful.

D&D 4E Would you buy and play a new campaign setting for 4e?

While I would be interested in a high-quality campaign setting that would implement 4e to its fullest, the interest would probably only be the vague curiosity of seeing how such a beast would look like. A new setting would have to be extremely inspiring for me to actually buy it unless it would...

    D&D Modules on Wikipedia

Thanks for chiming in. Does wikipedia has a psace problem? Do you need donations to purchase more hard-disk space? Because otherwise, I don't see why you can't have a place for fanzines, local bands, and so on. Not wanting advertisements or entries that can't be verified is one thing...

    D&D Modules on Wikipedia

I don't get the notability clause at all. The great thing about Wikipedia is that it allows anyone to build up and share his knowledge. The less note-worthy pages should be sequestered to remote areas, accessible only through a series of links from more prominent issues, but why delete an entry...

    The Grand To-Do List

Not D&D per se, but there are lots of games I wanted to play and didn't laterly... * A Blue Rose campaign, against the vile empire and tyrranical undead king. * An Iron Heroes campaign set in Midnight, starting with the introductory adventure and culminating at level 20+ with defeating the...

    Exercise: Extoic character backround

My latest character along those lines was an aasimir paladin, son of Heironeous. My next one, should I get the chance, would be a lowly mortal bard/cleric who is destined to become the Voice of God. :)

    When do you split treasure?

We split it when we reach homebase - where the PCs can buy and sell loot; but usually in between sessions or at the beginning of the session. Rarely, certain items would be used as soon as they are found and be properly "divided" later; this applies mostly to things loke scrolls, wands with...

D&D 4E What would make you decide against 4e?

Very little would make me not buy 4e. I trust WotC to produce a good, interesting game. I don't like how some of the changes sound (like evocation-based wizards, paladin smites, and so on), but like how some others do (like per-encounter balancing, no magic item dependence, etc). So I'm gonna...
