What Game Publishers Are Saying About The Tariffs

There are people out there with very immature attachments to political/tribal allegiances. As mild as the criticism in Monte Cook Games's post may be, it might as well be saying really bad people saying mean things about Mommy. Any thing critical is a virulent attack that deserves condemnation...

    Star Wars Rewatch

In some degrees it hasn't changed, but I think one nice thing about the various SW TV series out there is the broadening of Star Wars aesthetics. Even looking at Andor season 2, we've already got some very different environments in effect from Coruscant and Chandrila to Mina-Rau, Yavin IV, and...

How Fantastical Do You Like Your Fantasy World?

I like it to feel grounded with a few dashes of fantastic because that makes things more relatable and predictable to my players. For example, I like my castles to still be castles because magic and beasts that negate most of the defenses are still rare enough that they are expensive to exploit...

The Fantastic Four: First Steps | New Official Trailer

What? The guy made of rock doesn’t sound gravelly enough for you?

D&D 5E (2014) Question for folks who use D&D Beyond: How well does it work with the new rules?

Is there something you can help her redesign with her character so that she's less fairly ineffective at what she wants to do? Rearrange her stats to emphasize strength and deemphasize non-buff spell casting? Toughness feat to boost her hit points? Suggest a couple level dip into barbarian? Kit...

Jeremy Crawford Also Leaving D&D Team Later This Month

But they don't need a new bassist - last I knew Adam Clayton was healthy. A backup on the drums for Larry Mullen, however, might be a good idea given his various injuries.

D&D 5E (2014) Question for folks who use D&D Beyond: How well does it work with the new rules?

Repetition helps - if the specific set of rules aren't being hit constantly, people will forget or lose some second-nature familiarity. And there are substantial times on CR where they aren't tapping into specific rule subsystems. But even when someone forgets a rule, is it really that...

D&D 5E (2014) Question for folks who use D&D Beyond: How well does it work with the new rules?

I don't think this is particularly the impact of character builder tools. If they're not engaging with the rules (or your texts), it's not because they're using a character builder. It's because they're not engaging with that method or facet of the game. Maybe you can prod them to be more into...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 - Do magic weapons bypass resistance now?

I'm not entirely sure that its impact was all that heavy, though. If (big if) the monsters followed guidelines, the most significant impact resistances had on effective hit points (and thus CR) was in the low CRs (1-4) and the effect reduced as more characters were expected to have magic...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

It's not that someone is unable to understand, sometimes, it's that they are unwilling to do so.

    D&D 5E (2024) Specifying 5e

The closest to what I've been doing is the 5.14, 5.24 construction. Though I've been spelling it out a little more as 5e.2014 and 5e.2024 because I'm not charged by the keystroke and I find it just a little clearer.

How can the tabletop gaming industry survive without China?

Considering they're proposing really stupid levels of tariff on solar panels coming out of southeast Asia, no. I don't think there are feasible alternatives out there as long as they cling to trade war policies. While games may scoot under the radar with a shift, IF the facilities can be found...

What is/are your most recent TTRPG purchase(s)?

I guess I'm on a bit of binge. I first finally bought Baldur's Gate 3 since my computer can now run it. Then I bought Domains of Delight off DM's Guild. And finally, when I went to Noble Knight to pick up the copy of London's Burning that came in (WWII air war game), I bought a Campaign Builder...

What Show Should Have Only Had One Season?

That one's going to be a lot like the Red Wedding episode of Game of Thrones. If you know the source material, you knew it was coming. But if you didn't... ouch.

Best Star Trek/Mass Effect-like RPGs in your opinion?

We used Star Wars Saga Edition for a Mass Effect universe game and it did pretty well. Biotic powers were just replaced with Force powers. But I'm not sure it would be too good a fit for Star Trek considering how non-combaty Star Trek tends to be compared to Star Wars (or even Mass Effect).

    Star Wars Rewatch

I think, for a lot of people, it made a good first impression after all the moaning about Jar Jar and the Phantom Menace. But I don't think it's a lasting impression, particularly not when you actually delve into it and give it some thought. Then it really does suffer.

    Star Wars Rewatch

I've raised two. And they were a lot nicer and more socially well-adjusted than Anakin (we won't compare mental health issues exacerbated by the pandemic - no, we won't).

What Show Should Have Only Had One Season?

My answer would be an unequivocal no. If the seasons between 1 and the ending were good, they were good. Full stop.
