It's lighter than 3E/3.5 but not really light. What helps a lot is that the monsters have a lot of their special abilities spelled out right there, so no referring to another page is required. That saves time and puts a lot of the special rules in the hands of the players.

I would hope that either the warlord does a good job of healing, or your group kills everything that gets in your way before the opposition does more damage than you can take. My level 1 group has that exact make up, and although we're only level 1 we tear up most things that don't get surprise...

My local FLGS is Yottaquest. The owner does his best to keep the place prospering and doesn't just expect you to buy from him. He makes it so you want to buy from him.

I think I'll just trust the designers and keep things as is. But if I had to change things, I'd make magic items scale with players rather than the setup that so far looks like a continuation of 3E's magic system (but maybe not as needed).

Is there a reason you want E-tools? I have it, and unless you make a lot of PC's, or like to modify monsters, it's not exactly an easy-to-use program.

Minions = good thing. It got so irritating dealing with tons o' monsters that should have died easier than they did.
